Don't know if this has been posted yet, but a 2010 SHO ran a 12.75 @ BG at the NMRA Finals.
Very impressive for the little Ecoboost V-6 .....
Would love to have one of those as a crate engine in my black 87 TC :D

All while getting a heated massage on the way down the track.
Curb weight of 4400lbs? Yeah...
, that's nice.
Wonder if my boss will give me a raise. Surely the '10 SHO would be a better family car/daily driver than the ice...errr, i mean Caprice.
Any of you co-sign the loan for me? :rollin:
I hope the Sport will go that fast when it grows up.
Geez... already at 12s with no aftermarket? That's awesome.
Too bad they didn't put that engine in the Mustang... or the Fusion.
Isn't that the rumored plan...put the ecoboost into the Mustang? IIRC they are going to put a 4 cyl ecoboost into the Fusion eventually too.
They need to do a 4-cyl Ecoboost Ranger. That would be pretty cool too. Ford is really on top of their game right now if you ask me...especially with the new 5.0 motor looming on the horizon.
Its not confirmed as of yet but I can't see why they wouldn't do this. Maybe the rebirth of the SVO?
As for an EcoBoost Ranger, I too think that would be cool. Ford could make a sporty version Ranger with the EcoBoost and sell the shiznit outta em, I mean look how many guys bought those stupid Xtreme S10s with 4.3 V6 turds in em because they looked cool!
Yeah, he's been posting over on V6Power.net since he got the car a month or so ago, but stock he ran a 13.84 with it.

EcoBoost will find its way into almost all passenger vehicles from Ford im afraid....
Oh well we had 10 years of being something different.
hes calling out mustangs http://www.stangbangerz.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58563
Didn't Ford quit making the Ranger?
My boss has a '10 SHO and we went for a spin the other day. The car definitely moves like a V8, but I missed the V8 sound.
Bah, Never would have been a 3.4 without the 3.0.
They can't stop making the Ranger, there are too many sold. This 4 cyl ecoboost/3.0 diesel sounds like a good plan...and diesel Ranger just makes good sense. You would torque for limited towing capability combined with hellacious gas mileage. I would buy one for a daily driver! They need to change it up though, I'm pretty sure the current Ranger is still based off the original design from like...1983.
Now they just need to pull out the stops and make an ecoboost V8. I want the power and torque of a V10 with the gas mileage of a V8. lol.
Pipe dreams are the best dreams!
LOL
They should make a Ecoboost V8 for the GT500 ;) By by supercharger hello "environmentally friendly" Ecoboost.
I owned a 3.0 and a 3.4 car. The 3.0 was definitely better:iagree:
After I drive the GenIII.5 MTX Ill let you know what the 3.4 COULD have been like.
You missed a big point in the other post. The diesel engine is for INTERNATIONAL markets (read: NOT US) only. It's highly unlikely a small diesel p/u will make it to the states. "Diesel" still has a bad name here in the US (especially with the target audience for a small p/u), so it's a tough sell for the manufacturer...and it's a more $$$ option. The fuel economy saved over a gas engine takes about 5 years to break even, and for many people, they don't even keep the vehicle that long (unlike we fellow Fox Cat/Bird afficinados :burnout:).
I had heard musings of the F-100 being revived on a smaller platform (Dakota-sized perhaps) to take the place of the Ranger. Not sure if that's stil got any traction...
I just want to be able to get a V8 in my full sized truck...I just can't stand the sound of those V6s in a full-size p/u!
To be honest Ford really should have made the SVT Taurus SHO they had talked about when the Gen III was dropping. 6 Speed Turboed or Supercharged 3.4 V8. Now THAT is a sheetcake full of victory and more than likely would have redeemed the Gen III (Except for the stupid Cam failure prob.)
Well someone is going to try a diesel in a compact truck for the US market...

I think that truck buyers definately want diesels no matter what size truck. And don't forget Ford did make a diesel ranger back in the 80's. (not sure how successful they were...but they were made).
Seems like everyone tried a diesel in the 80's...
I want diesel though... BAD.
Plans are an aluminum block 5.0 TT for 2012 according to various sources....
If true; there will be a beautiful Sonic Blue 2005 Mustang GT with a Whipple supercharger for sale in 2 years.....
