I posted to sell my 88 Tbird on 9/19/09, but gave it to my son, when I had no esponce. I now have it back. It looks like most of you are not near the west coast. I have kept the car because of the drive train ( always got good mileage). Felt I might drop it in another car someday. It is getting harder to store cars in California. I plan to pull the drive train for myself, if no one has an interest in the entire car. I have included a copy of the original window sticker if you have any question about the car.
I don't know how to use the tabs - or post and poll features - so I am sorry if I do something wrong.
Thanks - Zimms88
The original posting was--- I have a 1988 Thunderbird Sport Coupe for sale. It is located in Placentia California ( Orange County). It has many features that match the Turbo Coupe - Seats, console, traction lock rear end, etc. It has 155,000 miles, moon roof and all power options. Everything works. The engine is 5.0 with Automatic OD. I am the original owner, buying the car in 1987. The body is rust free with no accidents. The paint is bad. No leaks in the drive train or any where else. Asking $1000 OBO.
Now if I lived in Cali, and I hadn't just bought one, I'd be seein ya. But, it's a bit of a hop to come and get that one. First thing that would happen is the Cali smog package would find itself at the bottom of a large river, and something a little more local would go on it. Would LOVE to have that 5.0/AOD package in my red one, and convert it to MAF. Someone oughta buy that just for the drivetrain. Good price. I just can't afford the plane tix and the fuel to get it back home. Whatever you do, DON'T let the city get it, and hang on to it as long as possible. SURELY there's some Cali Fox freaks out there.
You might want to post a price. There are quite a few of us on the west coast though - I think you just need more views.
The asking price was $1000 OBO.
Reminds me of my old Sport. I had one with everything but leather and metallic paint.
I might know someone in the San Diego area who might be interested in it. How many miles are on it?
135,000 miles. See 9/19/09 post for more info.
Unfortunatley, I checked your posts and threads and this is the only one here. Thanx for the info, though.
! nice sale! that'd be a helluva prize for one of us mid-westerners!
Sorry, it appears the original 9/19/09 listing was removed? I will revise the revision to include the original info.
Could you send me a full compliment of photos and all information to kwik9550@comcast.net?
What more would you like to see?
out of curiosity,
how is it possible the city / california wont let you "store" the car?
A lot of towns won't let you keep cars that aren't licensed/registered. Even if they're in, say, a fenced back yard.
In town, 5 miles from me, if you have a car in your driveway, or yard, or what have you, the cops will come up and leave a mark on the ground, come back in 24 hours, a week, or whenever, and check it, to see if it's been moved. Even on private property. Happened to me once.
I'd moved, and hadn't had time to cover over my first Tbird yet...within 48 hours I received: visit to my front door from the code enforcer; orange tag on 3!!! windows of the Tbird; and a visit at work from the shiznit-heel cop who placed the stickers.
Overkill?
I basically was told to either put it in the garage, or else movie it to the driveway and cover it again. He cut me a little slack when I told him we'd just moved in...seems the previous tenants were frequent customers of the police...lol
Anyway, it sat in the driveway from then on, often for days w/o the cover, and never had another problem.
Some cities are a little more bitchy about it though.
Thusly, if you don't have a garage, well, something's gotta give.
Anyway, back to topic.
If that car was closer, I'd buy it.
Really wish I had my vacation NOW, and my tax return while I'm at it...good luck with the sale :D
FordTruckFreeek is correct. If it doesn't have current tags, you can't park it in your driveway. They also do not allow trailers to be parked in your driveway. They both need to be in a garage or behind a fence. Got away for a few years, not sure if it was the luck of the draw, or someone complained. I was given a warning, but don't want to push it to see whats next. I have heard that the can inpound the car. Which would be a lose lose.
I was hiding my parts bird behind other cars to keep it out of view.
Car is in my side yard - any interest?
I told my friend about this car and sent him the link.
what would you take for the car without engine and transmission?
hey trav you know that car is in cali right? kinda far to drag a car back to here
Price is right.Car looks good.If you were closer to Tennessee I would buy it no doubt.
I really wish I could afford a plane ride, and gas to steer that back home.
Good luck with the sale of it, it's a nice car.
I'd be proud to park it here...
My friend said there will be back taxes on a CA car if you re-register it after it lapsed. Is this true and how much do you think is owed?
Hi, I just saw your message. There are no back taxes owed on the car. It is registered non operational in California. If it is going out of state, and not driven in California roads, then it doesn"t need to be reregistered. The pink slip would be proof of ownership in any other state. For use in California the fee is about $100 Plus a Smog check which runs about $50. The California registration runs from October to October.
Thanks - Gary
Hallo Simms88;
Is this car still available for sale? What is the registration status of the vehicile? Any idea of what the trac-loc ratio is?
Thanks for your response, Sincerely, Jon B.
wish you was closer
