A few weeks ago, someone here was having some sort of issue with the doors. I was trying to help out and then someone else chimed in and siad....
"mine keeps saying door ajar" ,, literally as in speaking it.
Now I am no total expert on these cars but I did question it and the reply was yes, the car speaks.
I may be on crack but is this correct and if so, where do i start to get mine working.
Which shop manual?
wouild it happen to have something to do with the module under my driver seat with the red light?
Im on vacation for a few days and i thought I might finsh my "to do list"
20th anny coug
1983's had the talking chime module. Thankfully taken out for 1984. ;)
i could swear this guys car wasnt 83 but your the expert.
why be thankful it was taken out?
atleast the car says "something" to you instead of just taking you for a ride and useing up all your money while saying nothing in return:hick:
Sweet! I want a talking module. I am sure I will get tired of it in about 3 minutes, but I want one anyway. I have had 2 83's and both just had the standard bell.
I want a cussing module...
"Close the door dumbass!" LOL!
With Dave Chapelle's voice- "You left the lights on, mugf*cka!"
you know this has got me thinking, was this an 83 only thing?
im pretty sure my moms cougar said "the door is ajar" exactly like that and i wasnt an 83. i understand your the guy who knows this stuff but im sure you run into things that shouldnt be(like the 85 with 84 lights thing) so there isnt a possibility that some after 83 got this?
she had a chrysler that also said something similar but i dont believe im crossing memories here.
i'd pay good money for one of those :D
It was probably me, I'm fed up with mine. It's a novelty and it wears off quick especially when your screwing around with your stereo, installing speakers, etc. And its not good for impressing the ladies, my last date said "What a cheesy car"...
I'll take a video of it later tonight; the picture may be off but the audio will be there.

Again please excuse the poor image quality.
ROFL!
It dings AND yells at you. :rollin:
Pretty sure. There's nothing mentioned after 1983 for it anywhere.
See the video above. ;)
If that module could be programmable like the Tom Tom (http://"http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=4&tab=24")...we could get Mr. T's voice.
"Close yo do', foo!"
I would pay for that...
Remember this?
"Someone done stole your battery. I say we go get the m*th*f*ck*!"
(my age is showing...)
I'm thinking of making my killswitch a little interesting...a really inaccessible master kill switch, and something programmable in the car (partially hidden, partially not). Maybe a sound like the insert-quarter sound from Pac-Man when you enable driving and the dying sound from Robotron when you disable starter/fuel/ecu. Now that would be cool.
The T-Bird.
lets talk more about this.
page 116 of the 87evtm calls out for a warning chime or voice alert module. Its shown pretty much directly above the fuse panel.
My dogs were even annoyed by that and started growling, lmao. I don't even keep the door ding hooked up cuz it drives me nuts, I'd probably freak out if my car started talking to me.
My 85 EVTM shows a voice alert module or warning chime module but only with the 2.3. The 3.8 or 5.0 page shows only a warning chime module available.
I want one :flame:, But i have no idea what to look for at the JY.
It was Eddie Murphy; I was thinking the same thing. He wanted to put a little brother in it. Man I got to find that I had that on cassette.
