I did not know our cars were symmetrical wheel base although its prob day one auto mechanics. Took my car in for alignment and was told some cars pass front wheel sits back closer to the rear wheel as compared to the driver side. Maybe its visa versa but you get the point.
News to me...I thought the distance between front and rear was typically the same, side to side.
If not, wouldn't front swaybars not mount correctly..?
only time i can think of adjusing the wheelbase from one side of the vehicle to the other side would be in circle track applications. and as far as sway bars. there is some flex in the link
you are correct sir. the right front is moved forward as far as the rules allow. it eases understeer. also the rear end can be turned, say from behind the car, clockwise. again to ease understeer. really theres a billion ways to work with these and other settings and angles..
for a street car, which is meant to go left and right, it should be symmetrical. i would be worried if the base isnt square. i would suggest checking every bushing and see if there are any that are deformed, tweaked, blown, falling apart etc. new urethane bushings makes more of a difference than one would think. it livened my car up a bit when i did the fronts.

Wasn't the AMC Pacer built with an asymetric wheelbase?
the dealer guy was speaking about newer cars as in "a few". He did rattle off a few past cars.
One door was longer than the other, but I cannot imagine the wheelbase was different side to side.
