Title: Fuel leak?
Post by: Thor Power on September 08, 2009, 04:27:29 AM
:mad:I have a puddle of fuel between #2 and #3 injector. I had earlier changed all the "O" rings but that didn't stop the leak. I actually thought it was the #1 fuel injector. Nevertheless, I bought only (1) injector (I know, I usually get all four), but for the quick fix, I just bought one. Well I changed injector #2(that's were the leak looked like it was coming from) but that didn't help.

My question is, has anyone heard of that fuel rail that sits on the injectors leaking??

Or is it possible that there might be a crack in one of the bezels? BTW my car is a '88 Turbo 5spd.

Can´t you see the leak? When I was working in garage then I had few issues with fuel rail that sits on the injectors & is leaking the main problem was the o-ring between fuel rail & injector. Also once there was micro fracture in the fuel rail but then the leak was so big that you saw it like g.

Did you make  sure you pulled the old o-rings from the rail if any were left behind? Also, you may want to pull the rail off, make sure the o-rings on the injectors are all good, old pieces removed, and then lightly apply some engine oil on the o-rings before re-installing the injectors into the intake and the rails to the injectors. Then make sure that the rail is firmly seated on the injectors, and while holding the rail down, bolt it down. There is some adjustment to the rails.

Remove the upper intake, dry up any gas with a rag.  Then have someone cycle the key to on a few times. I had a bent injector cup leak the first time I put my new intake on.  I had to go cut a new fuel rail from the junkyard.

I guess my question is answered. I was wondering where I could get a "new" fuel rail. It looks like I might have to go looking in junkyards..... It looks 99.9% that the fuel rail might be the problem. (on the comical side, I dropped one the bolts that held the upper intake and oil dipstick in place. It was "absorbed" by "bermuda" T-Bird Triangle!! I'll never find it!!)
