One set is the old Ford Escort metal blanks with the large head keys. These will fit into the ignition, door and trunk locks. Not sure about the glove box lock on 1983-84 though.
The other set is inverted triangular shaped rubber headed keys that were used on later model Escorts and Ford Tempos. They will definitely fit the ignition switches in our cars. I tried these at work. This is the best solution for those wanting rubber headed keys because the later model square rubber headed keys will not clear the inside of the lock cylinder twist .
Later model Ford Rangers have the revised twist to allow the square rubber headed key but the lock cylinder itself is designed too different to fit inside the column lock opening.
I bought three sets of the TC keys from him.I think I got the last 3 sets.Letter "D".......

Actually,I bought 5 sets (the other 2 pair I bought last year). Two pair I had cut for the Bird (The NOS keys that came with the NOS locks and tumbler are put away),two sets are uncut and in my bed side table drawer, and with the last set,I have another purpose for them.I'd say it here, but then everyone would want to do it........LOL.
I cannot imagine what unmentionable purpose you would have for the last set of key blanks... LOL!
You'll see in a couple of weeks.
Now my curiousity is peaked!
It's super simple,and REALLY cool.
tie clips
earings
belly button ring
Nope. It's for the Sport.I'll get a pic and show you.
Turbo Coupe Keys + a Thunderbird Sport V8 can only mean one thing... You are putting a turbo on the Sport's V8!
I finally got my keys cut!
I ordered a set of Escort keys and a set of Turbo Coupe keys. I was worried the head of the Escort keys was not going to allow the key shank to go far enough into the lock cylinder to operate but they work fine and I strongly recommend these if you would like the black plastic headed key.
I had the special Turbo Coupe trunk and door key cut, but I doubt I will ever use it that much since I installed remote keyless entry with trunk release.
I just went ahead and cut the Turbo Coupe ignition key. Now that I think about it I should have just saved it for someone who wants it, but it was my back-up ignition key option if the Escort blanks would not work.

The Sport will never have a turbo. It'll have a stronger engine in a couple of months or so,but no turbo.Maybe a supercharger somewhere down the road.
Okay so the turbo key blank mystery is getting more interesting! Maybe you will be getting another Turbo Bird! I know that once I get my Tbird the way I want it I will probably get bored and add to my collection and get something different to work on. By then my Mustang will be paid for and the car I gave my Mom will be paid off so I will have extra $$$ to throw around.
No Turbo Coupes.I don't like the 4 cylinder motors (no offense 4 banger guys). It's really nothing.Just a little something I thought up for the Sport while all of us car guys are together at places.
