Title: I'm curious about carfax.
Post by: shameless on August 26, 2009, 04:03:40 PM
is there any way carfax can do a reverse search, and track down the current owner of one of my old cars? I'm interested in finding my old mustang, and seeing if the guy would be willing to sell it, but have no idea where it is. Dont know if its possible but figured I'd try it.

or, if my insurance company could look it up for me?  I dunno, any ideas?

you should be able to go to the DMV with the vin and be able to track it down that way. it might cost alittle but it would be worth it.

5 years, different friends have said theyve seen it around, but nobody knows who owns it or where the car gets parked. lol if nothing else, its a small town, I might just put up a flyer or something when the time comes. lol I'd rather just find the guy and keep other people out of it as much as possible though. lol

I was able to contact an original owner through carfax.  The report said what town it was first registered in.  It was a small town in SC.  So I picked a local repair shop and asked if they knew of a guy that had a white Cougar and they remembered it and gave me his name and number.  Sure enough it was him.
