I have been wanting to upgrade my headlights to something a bitaclearer and brighter. Mine seem so hard to see at night. It feels unsafe. I know at Knechts they have I think Sylvania Cool Blue's. Has anyone else upgraded theirs? what did you use and how was the end result in your perspective?
Cool blues are for looks only, the blue tint actually cuts down on light output, your best bet is to find silverstars on ebay or get xtravisions in stores. You could also try to find conversion housings on ebay.

Your options are almost unlimited compared to us 87-88 folks...
would it be insulting to suggest that instead of upgrading them they might need to be adjusted since most folks just slap them in there.
and no matter what lights you throw in there they will still be limited by the size of the wire for output.
In my newer cars I have been using Silverstars. I also sell them where I work. There is significant increase in brightness and range. They do not use more wattage or require heavier wiring but the life expectancy is not as high as standard halogen bulbs. They have the tinted blue coating like the Cool Blues which is only there to make the light appear less yellow and more pure white. If anyone is expecting that Xenon HID blue look they just do not provide that, not even with the Silverstar Ultra which has the most light output and range. Think of the Cool Blues as a blue tinted standard halogen bulb while the Silverstar series uses the same blue tinted coating with increased light distance and range. Then there is the Xtra Vision which gives the increased distance and range over the standard halogens but does not have the blue tint.
Before I got the Mustang I had a 2005 Cavalier (which I gave to my Mom). The standard light output was . I put a set of Silverstar Ultras in it and there was a dramatic difference. Where I live there are dark roads with no lighting. The Silverstar Ultras made all the difference in the world.
After I got the Mustang I was annoyed mostly with the yellowish standard halogen light color, so I slipped in some regular Silverstars because that was the only version available in the H13 bulb number. I am satifisfied with the increased light output with those as well.
Back when I had my 1989 Thunderbird (which I installed a 1996-97 front end) , I switched the bulbs out for Cool Blues which was the only premium bulb at the time. I was satisfied with the whiter light color very much. I certainly did not detect a reduction in light output whatsoever using Cool Blues.

I do appreciate the input. im just not looking to upgrade the headlight wiring harness at the moment. just get something a bit brighter and a little safer at night for those drunks and deer running out in front of me :-D

I believe that I purchased the Sylvania SilverStars, or the Xtra Visions, the guy at the counter recommended them, and they are fantastic! Much, much brighter than my old ones. I was really surprised at the increase in light from my old sealed beams to these. This was for my Mazda truck, not the bird, but if I havn't upgraded to HID/removable halogen by the time the bulbs in the bird go, then that is what I am putting in.
I use the Xtra Vision in my Thunderbird. I love the wide beam and nice white color they produce. I work nights so almost all my driving is in the dark, and over mountain roads. The wide beam makes seeing so much easier when rounding those corners in the dark.
this isnt true. I am using them in my 79XR7 and they give off significantly more light than the stock lights. I often times get flashed to dim my lights when I'm only using dims, people dont like it when I flash back at them to tell that I'm on dim.
