Title: HO swap ? regarding MAP and TPS sensors
Post by: quick50stng on August 13, 2009, 12:13:23 PM
I got my E-7 swap done and timed and it runs excellent. However, I'm having trouble with the car wanting to idle at all. Once rpms drop below 800 the car shuts off.

I am still using the 88 Thunderbird map sensor and TPS (which I noticed there is a physical difference between the HO and Thunderbird TPS shape).

All vacuum lines are hooked up and are brand new. I replaced them all.

I want to drive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D but can't until i get this puzzle solved.

MAP or TPS should be fine from one to the other... Check for codes...

Double check for vacuum leaks, and anything else that you touched. It could be something small like a hose under the intake.

I think the issue is with the IAB and TPS. I forgot to mention I messed with the idle stop screw on the throttle body. I now know I should have never touched it. So I need to reset the TPS.

I replaced and re-clamped all the hoses. I've checked all the easy stuff.

disconnect the IAB connector
start the car and adjust the throttle stop screw to about 800 rpm.
shut the car off
reconnect the IAB connector
start the car and let it run for 2 min with no accessories on
shut car off
start the car with accessories on.
done
This procedures needs to be done any time you turn that throttle stop screw
