Title: Did i hook my autometer boost gauge up wrong?
Post by: 1badstang on July 29, 2009, 08:03:23 PM
So i hooked it up and it washiznitting 10-12lbs. I turned my gillis boost controller up 3 more turns and still reading 10-12lbs. I hooked it up to the factory hose.

So what hose did you hook it up to? Mine is currently hooked to the Vac tree. I di have the Vac/Boost gauge.  How is your "MBC- gills valve" plumbed in? Then also maybe you need a stronger spring in your MBC. You said you turned the MBC up so did you loosen or tighten it?  What turbo are you running? Is your knock sensor still plugged in?

I loosened it up and where ever the factory boost gauge hose goes to. I just hooked it up to the factory boost gauge hose. I have my boost valve where the boost solenoid used to be.

All sounds ok. But if you loosened the MBC that would lessen the boost unless you have a 13psi actuator. You would have to Tighten the MBC to make it increase boost. Then make sure you plumbed the MBC in there correctly. There are two hose nipples need to hook the hose from the engine to the bottom and the side one to the Turbo actuator. As you tighten the screw it presses on a spring that holds the MBC closed until the PSI forces it open. The factory hose should work just fine for boost signal.

If it's where your boost control solenoid is, that is your problem.

Install it like that.
