Does anybody know where we can find engine bay hood insulation for Our Cougar ? or if somebody makes custom fitting insulation anymore for these foxbody cars ? Thanks for your help friends :poke: :)
Dan & Paula ;)
Not sure where to get the Factory type stuff. But car stereo shops should have soe Dynamat type stuff with a foil side for the engine side.
Stuckman
Thanks Stuckman, At least I can go and check their line of product out first.

I have no idea on this other than they sell it. I never tried it.
I have also seen it pop up on ebay at times from some of the ebay hood inulation sellers.
Wasn't there somebody here or on TF that was selling custom liners with a logo?
(p.s. not an endorsp00get)

Dan
This is where I bought mine.I will get some pics of it installed, so you can see if it is something you would be interested in.
Thanks for all of the info fellas and I'll email (TBirdmnd) and see if he still does these liners. Our liner decided to come off last Weekend at my first carshow from some High winds which caused my cilps to bust apart.
Dan & Paula ;)
p.s. I've since replaced my clips with newer ones also.

Thanks Joe , Our cut out light section is on the passenger side but that looks a whole lot better than the 1 we have friend. ;)
If I remember correctly,I actually flipped the pad, because it was on the wrong side for my hood.
Hey Joe , I just got thru talking with (Mark) 86t-bird and he had ordered a hoodliner from that other member who made 1 for his ride. I'm gonna email him to see if he can make 1 for ours also friend. ;)
let me know what you find out.
Joe, You can count on that friend. ;)
Found this website about replacement hoodliners for $85 and ordered 1 for our Cougar and the fella is also a member of our forum (Tbirdmnd) friends. :D

Dan & Paula ;)
I was going to post up that link, but I see you already found it. Looks like a pretty nice piece and you can customize the logo.
And here I am, back after a little hiatus.
A big hello and thanks to Dan for posting the link to my blogspot page for my liners. Yours will be coming soon, just need to get the 2 decals in from my supplier.
I do remember Mark and his 86 TBird, but I never heard back from him after I made him the liner. I'd like to see pics of the engine bay now!
Thanks again!
Gonzo,
The install went fine. I took your advice and pulled the hood, used the recommened 3M spray on glue and had a friend help me with the install (two people made it much easier, one to hold it up while the other worked it into place. Once it hit the glue there was no moving it). It's been on there for two years. It's a great product and is holding up well. Getting a flattering pic of the underside of the hood isn't as easy as I expected... The Thunderbird decal is a nice feature. I am often asked how I got that on there!

Looks Good dan! Nice "subtle" touch to the car.
Gotta agree with that... Very nice man. two thumbs up dude.
Thanks Fella's ,Plus due to the other liner deteriorating (24yrs) it was time for a change. :poke: :headbang:
Looks fantastic as always buddy, only even more awesome now! I think I may need one a few years down the road :D
Thanks Brett, I knew you would like it friend. :D
I'm actually jealous to be honest, that looks really cool. Reminds me kinda about how Ford did the hood liners on the V6 SHOs
I don't know, it's hard to tell if it looks good or not. Do you have a few more pics? lol. JK, looks awesome!! Did you just use the push-in clips to install it or did you use some 3M spray adhesive too?
Thanks Mike , You are always good for a laugh ....and yes push-in clips were used as was the 3M #80 spray too friend. :D
Looks sweet!! Wish I was at that stage of assembly, lol.
Looks like a photochop to me.......;)
Really though it looks awesome, great job Dan.
Dan that looks great...I have no liner right now and one day I need one of those!!
Thanks Chris, Here is Gonzo's website again friend: http://www.hoodliners.blogspot.com/ :D
Does that hood liner do anything useful for sound and heat though? Heat perhaps but it looks like little more than a rubber or closed cell foam variant. I would think the stock type would do a much better job at sound dampening (neither will do vibrations). Of course, this is one of those things where no actual tests will be done to prove it one way or another. I've also had bad luck with any and all spray adhesives, including the ones offered by RAAMaudio. After 2 years, it began to fall off of my doors and they were cleaned/roughed up more than I likely needed to.
My hood liner all nasty due to age and an alternator fire though.
Seek , After carefully reading (Tbirddmnd)'s instructions it states that the liner & decals are both heat resistant friend. Please checkout his website and see for yourself.

I do neeed one of those. It would really set of the under hood area.
Yes, I think one of these may be in my future... Though I guess I should get the car on the road first.
Shiny Side Up!
Bill
Gotta check my settings here, it's not letting me know of any replies to this thread!
I'm still doing these liners and will do so until the end of time I think!
The 1/4 inch thick liner is made from an aircraft firewall material and insulated against heat AND sound. Plus it won't deteriorate and come apart like the stock liner. Both my 97 Thunderbird Limited Edition and 97 Mark VIII LSC have the liner and silver decal and have held up great. The liner just doesn't get dirty, it doesn't soak up any underhood fluids or lubricants. The side that faces out is smooth and is where the decal goes, the back side is the closed-cell material and adheres to the hood with 3M #80 spray adhesive after the underhood is wiped down with a degreaser.

Dan - my liner looks great on your Cougar!
