Post by: daddybair7 on July 26, 2009, 10:18:23 PM
i was wandering of anyone knows how to adjust the doorhandle latches for the inside doorhandle. i replaced the plastic clips/bushings but still have to pull the handle on the passenger door till it stops and sometimes it will open and sometime it wont i usally have to jerk on it hard to pop it open . any help will be apperictated . or know of a shorter rod from anouther car that would work i tried the latch assembly out of the sport on it but still get the same results .

sounds like the rod is bent or you need to shim up where the rod attaches.

id imagine a little more length is what you need..... or the rod is bent... i dont think they can wear out that bad... even after replacing the clips...i hate tinkering with the whole door lock/latch ...(big hands)

I made a new door handle rod with 3/16'' aluminum round stock i just bent by had.

keep the rod rather bowed int eh middle that way you can take up or add slack by bending or straightening as required.

same goes for checking out the lock assembly to the latch.
