What are the "70's style mounts"?

The K-member is the most likely reason...

70's style mounts like what I have in my cougar.  the bolt through frame type mounts, the 87-88 use the same type of mounting. I will try these when we drop the engine in the new TC and let everyone know either way.

What's the application?

I imgaine they might be "short" compared to the 86+ style.

I looked some up.  ('77 Tbird w/ 302).

They'll probably hit the K-member before you can get the bolt through them.

Well, I'm not saying the other ones WON'T work, but from the pics I looked at they looked to be "short".  The Fox mounts are kind of tall.

My mounts run $175, to your door.
