Title: Cloth interior
Post by: tbirdsps on July 21, 2009, 01:06:46 PM
I have an 86 Tbird.  What material is the cloth?  I'm wondering if it's dyable.  Polyester is not but some other synthetics are.

It's going to donate the fronts seats to my Cougar wagon.

The cloth can be dyed without issues.

For those people that have received the Ford 999 History reports for their cars, the fabric material is listed. I remember the word "Manhattan" but can't recall if that was for the leather or the cloth. I'll have to also double check the Ford interior books that I have when I get home; the cloth type may be listed in there also.

EDIT: Checked the 1986 books, nothing mentioned about the cloth (or leather) type.

Thanks,  Instead of spraying on the dye I wanted to remove the upholstery and dip dye the fabric.

I'll give it a shot.  What's the worst that can happen.:D
