Title: Front Sway Bar
Post by: bike70ride on July 13, 2009, 11:13:42 PM
In trying to find the "clunk" in my suspension I've been hearing for a little while, I discovered tonight that the passenger front stabilizer link sheared off at the top end! (Might explain the noise AND the rather sudden lack of handling.)

I assume pretty much any Fox vehicle front end sway bar/ends/bushings will work? I am thinking of replacing both ends and the bushings, but probably re-use the stabilizer bar. Thoughts?

I don't want to spend a whole lot of $$$ on aftermarket suspension parts for just a V6 LS stock daily driver. If anyone does have any suspension parts lying around, I would consider taking them off your hands, if you like. :D Otherwise, I may just check out EBay or Rockauto.

Thanks!

Greg

Oh, on a separate note...how much play should (or shouldn't ) there be on the tie rod ends? I can twist both sides of mine on the ball joint for a total of about 3/8" movement...(threaded part remains motionless). Seems like too much, but I'm not sure...thx!

Local auto parts stores have poly ends and bushings pretty reasonable, so I think I'm going to go that route instead of waiting for shipped items.

Surprised no one has any comments regarding poly vs. rubber pros/cons?  I think even for general use, poly components should be fine.

Yeah, for the cost, new bushings/end links are a good deal new. Just remember that Tbird endlinks are different than FoxStangs...;)

I would just pull the sway bar off. Neither of my 87 v-6's had sway bars.

And I'm sure they handled like ass.

If you say they didn't, then you are lying ;)

Exactly what I was thinking!  My car doesn't corner worth a sh*t right now without mine!

WOW Major difference having the sway bar back in operation! :burnout: Definitely think the poly end links firm up the ride considerably. Very much enjoying TURNING through corners and not LEANING! :hick:
