Well the trunk has been leaking for a while and yesterday and today I finally got around to screwing with it. It appears the water is coming into the trunk between the trunk jam and the rear quater. Where they come together on the outside of the rubber trunk gasket. Underneath there was a a little rust too. I sanded it, no holes(luckily), but I thought I would see what anyone has done about this. I checked on the parts car, and that trunk had water in it too. It had the same spot of rust in the same place, under where the two panels meet. I'm assuming other people might have the same problem.
I checked everywhere else for leaks too and don't see a place. The gasket is in good shape and the lip where is goes is not rotted.
Should I just run a bead of silicone between them to stop the water. Anyone else had this problem? What did you do.
Are you talking about this area.

In deed I am. On the top of that area where the trunk pan and quarter come together I think is where hte water is coming in. The rusty area seems to be just where yours is, above the yellow plug where all the metal comes together. I'm assuming the water is just pudlding up and then coming in.
clean out the seam sealer in the area, treat any rust and apply new seam sealer. you can use a self leveling sealer for the entire area. make sure to check the seam all the way to the back end of the trunk and other side. it always dries out and creates a hairline crack at that seam back there.
Back end of the trunk meaning where the trunk pan starts to turn to run parrellel to the back window? And how does one clean this area out? Its so small I can't get anything in there. Or does this mean all the seam sealer is already gone? Would silicone work just as well? The stores are closed and its supposed to rain again before I can get home to do it, :(
down the quarter panel /trunk , there's a seam all the way down there.
silicone will work ok in a pinch, but it will eventually leak again. and you won't be able too paint over it.
