Title: EGR PFE issues
Post by: Drastic on July 10, 2009, 07:52:20 AM
Goodday all

I have a 88 Tbird 3.8 that was parked for several years
When I got it there were several mechanical issues head gasket, cooling system etc.
The PFE sensor was melted on the bottom where the tube comes up from the EGR tube
I have now replaced the PFE sensor (at 140.00 can) to find it is melting the new one as well
I have tried cleaning the EGR valve
Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Ken

I had this problem. It ended up being that round bronze looking disk that was causing the problem, if i remember correctly. That and something to do with the exhaust. It was about a year ago, I'll have to ask my dad if he remembers and go look at the motor. I took the v6 out a few months after I did it, so whatever it is, I'm sure I can sell you super cheap, compared to what it would cost you to get one.
