Ok Im planning on building up an 85 Thunderbird with a stroked 460 ;-)
but i need help on the k-member decision!! i know that i may need to keep the stock k-member and go with the "long" control a-arms (94-95 mustang a-arms)....
but i am very interested in using a tubular k-member..
on the 460ford.com site.. some people said they had problems or had to do some machining in order to get a tubular k-member to fit..
so far UPR and PA Racing said that their k-members would fit without modifications to the k-member, and that they would clear the Hooker super comp swap headers..
can anybody please help me out here?
I would stay away from upr. All they do is rip off other manufacturers with cheaper parts and worse welds/build quality.
Any 87-93 mustang will more or less bolt in. Some people here had said they need some shims to make it line up correctly. There are a couple of people on here that used a stock 83-85 tbird/cougar k-member and just used mustang 460 swap motor mounts. The 83-85 cars used the same k-member as the mustang. I will wait for someone who has done the swap to chime in.
