Title: pic of dash parts
Post by: jcassity on July 04, 2009, 12:19:57 AM
i have concluded that i missed a day in school.

when i look at this thread as i have often came back to it..........http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=24117

the pic below shows the center dash trim around the radio /eq / ect.

i notice a square hole up in the top.

what it for,, and if nothing, what was its intent?  if nothing then what can we use it for as a mod.  maybe a flashing little led in there when your alarm system is armed,, could it be a good place for the microphone of hands free cell phone gear, or could it be a good mounting location for an electronic gizmo,, or could it be a good place to have an "AUX" jack?

anyone have a center piece with an item in this location?

I believe it was intended for a light, like on the earlier cars (late 70s i think had them)
also my 78 Mercury Monarch had one like that for the ashtray below

I always thought that was an air intake for the cabin temp sensor on cars that have EATC...

Yep, that's what it was.

If your car does not have ATC then you can use the space for whatever you wish, it won't interfere with anything.
