Title: maf / injector driveability ?(maf conversion completed 7-26)
Post by: flipnbird on July 02, 2009, 09:32:27 AM
Within the next 3-4 weeks i am hoping ( big honey to do list ) to start my head/ cam change in which i will need to switch to mass air (73mm calibrated for 24's). My ? is,,, with the mods that i have now (in sig), will she run alright with 24's in. I am wanting to go ahead and do the mass conversion now so that i know it is done right before i start on the head/ cam change.  :D

Thanks

It'll run fine as long as you use a matched MAF and injectors... Don't be surprised if it feels slower though, cause it probably will be(at least that's the case for a stock MAF setup) ...

With the mods you have 24s would be too big and may cause you to run a bit rich. However if you are using a 73mm C&L MAF you need the stock electronics from a Mustang 55mm MAF. So here's my idea: get the stock Mustang 55mm MAF and computer, do the conversion, and then use the 24s and the C&L MAF when you do the head/cam swap.

I have the stock mustang electronics but not the 55 mass air, also have an A9L puter and C&L MAF,#24 inj., and the conversion wiring. I don't drive the car much but i want to make sure it will run alright just in case i need to drive it before the H/C swap.

Well the housing would have made it easy. Oh well. You could get the MAF housing from an early 90's Tauras/Sable 3.0 at the junk yard. They used the same MAF as a 5.0 Mustang. It should cost you less than $20.
