Title: Oil pressure on hot days reads low-normal?
Post by: 85turbotbird on June 28, 2009, 04:19:25 PM
Past few days its been extremely hot in PA and the oil pressure in the TC has been reading on the M part of NORM...when its cooler out, it reads in the N.  Is this normal behavior?  I'm going to check the dipstick tonight after work to just make sure its got enough oil.

I have never had a car read below normal if its hotter or colder outside. Or maybe I have never paid attention! lol I'd check the oil level

Its fine.

Think of it, our gauges are basically dummy lights anyway. Usually as long as it moves off the bottom of the gauge its fine.

If youre paranoid hook up a real gauge.

the first part of your reply there is kinda bold,,,,

the second part is better advice.

get an aftermarket in the dash oil kit and install it to take a true reading.  Atleast you will know for sure.

if it goes below 20,, the time has come to step up a viscosity level or two.  Ideal presure would be 30plus with idle rpm.
