I have for years wanted a 83-86 T-Bird built to look like a 80's Nascar but still be legal to drive on the highway.
Has anyone ever seen something like this that was street legal? I know about those poser models that had full interiors and stock engines with "9" decals on the doors.
I am talking about real nascar size tires with cut fenders, gutted interiors, racing suspensions , etc.
I would love to drive something like this to the local auto-x races for some fun.:D
A long time ago, part of a restaurant/nascar/beer promotion. Not sure if it was *legal*, but it could have been with some tires and maybe a little work (eg emissions). The thing that really sticks in my memory is how the wheel arches were much bigger than stock. Not sure, but I think they cut out the fender flares.
theres a bill elliot and a #28 i think davie allison but dont know .runing around here
oval racing slicks are huge... i have a used tire from the 80's and a used tire from the 90's. believe it or not they're not too different in dimensions. i rolled it up next to the thunderbird and if i had it mounted i'd have to cut the fenders 3 inches front and back. i actually carried the 80's slick around in the trunk for a good bit of time actually.
This Bill Elliott clone was at Carlisle a few years ago...

why cant they finish it by puting steelies on it? That is my plan anyway.
Theres a Bill Elliot car at the junkyard by my house with a 2.3T in it for cheap.
Could get some pics? Thank you.
There is only one obvious Fox Thunderbird stock car that is instantly recognizable by rednecks and Burt Reynolds fans alike.
Of course we're talking about the Chicken Pit Special.
