Title: Found an 87 V6 T-Bird. Go for it or not?
Post by: thunderjet302 on June 18, 2009, 10:16:20 AM
Here it is at a local Chevy dealer: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=263893388&dealer_id=42153625&car_year=1987&rdm=1245334247645&model=TBIRD&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=50&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&sownerid=67746&showZipError=y&make=FORD&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=60638&advanced=&end_year=1988&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=32&standard=false

It would be a DD. You think it's worth a look? It's starting to rust so I wonder how the underside/strut towers are.....

console with colum shift. What is the price on it? Over all it looks like its in good condition, and could replace your mn12 daily driver, or would be a good v8 swap.

What about that one that was totally mint? It was a v8 too I think. I could also be dreaming this up out of nowhere. :hick:

LOL no offense man but your post is a *little* bit random and in the wrong section.

Go to the bottom of the main page and see the Cars For Sale forum, go there, thats for members here that wanna sell their own car. Post a thread there, make sure ya add your state AND town (or zip code in that state) and take plenty of pictures of it and put em up too!!! :D

Looks okay, a little rust but that's common, clean it up a little and it would be a good D.D. However I wouldn't be too keen on the 3.8, oh and it looks like whoever buys it will need a new deck as there is a "failure" lol.

I took another look at the pics and it seems it has some damage on the pass. side rear quarter. Due to that and the 3.8 I'd say no.

The 3.8 as a DD isn't bad. When mine was in the car, I was getting over 30 mpg, I mean the car wouldn't get out of its own way, but it was really cheap to run. I beat the  out of it so the engine started to get tired, but even so great on gas. I wouldn't pass up a car just because its a 3.8, if everyone did that a lot of us wouldn't be here on this forum. Just my 2 cents.

I think I'm going to contact them and see how much they want for it. It has 3 strikes against it though: 3.8, rust/body issues, and a bad radio :hick:. I'll just email them instead of going to the dealer as it's about a hour drive for me. No point in wasting gas if they want $4,000 for it;)

Oh and yeah I did find an 88 Sport in good shape about a month ago. I left a note on the car but they never called and the car has moved. I have't seen it in about 3 weeks :o

My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts because I can afford car payments on a new or year or two old car but I keep wanting to buy old ones. I like the idea of paying a thousand or two for an old car and then putting what I would pay monthly on a new car in the bank. :D

only if you're looking for a summer DD.  If the body is in good shape, do you want to be the one to rust it out?

I thought I could just POR-15 the  out of the frame, underside, and engine bay and drive it all year ;)
