I love it! Good for her!
SHe planned it out well! Plus the car still looks brand new!
she drove the comet to the iola swap meet and car show in
1999 when mercury was the featured car . she lives down in
the south. very nice lady. some of us guys had to do a little
work on it before she left to go home. we had one car for
every year of mercury under the big tent. hers was the 64 car.
i think it was about 3000 miles round trip for her.
That's awsome! I think our local news ran her story before, I've also seen her story in the paper at one time.
THAT is a cool story.
I agree Vinnie and here's  to her Life Journeys with that Mercury Comet.
i cant stop showing people this vid
great story,, one day maybe we can all take that road to wherever just to see where it goes. for now,, we gotta hurry back home to get up and get to work.,,,,,,,,,,,,,, c'ept for tom:rollin:
The first car I have memories of as a young child was my mom's navy blue '66 Comet. :grinno:
What do you guy's think of this one? It's a 1966 Comet Cyclone Gt.
The 1st car I ever rode in was a 72 Comet. Thats what dad drove me home from the hospital in! ;)
The 66 I posted a pic. of is my Dad's. He had bought one new in 66, had to trade it in 76 to buy a pickup. Ever since he wanted another to replace the original one he had. When he found this one it was in pretty bad shape, but he had it redone and painted like the one he had. It has been redone to original other than the paint, this one was red to start with.
My first ride in a car was in his original one, my ride to the hospital to be born was a fast one!
I was born at home. I don't know what make car the doctor drove to our house in 1932.
He was probably on a horse and buggy!
haha jk jk
The Cyclone is nice, even if it does have the wrong wheels... That style wheel wasn't avail till '68, I have the same ones on my '69 Cobra Jet Fairlane(for which they are correct)...
While we be showin' off...

So sweet! And nice addition, Irv. I was at Iola in '99, wish I knew about this, would have been cool to check out!
Yeah, he has the correct wheel covers in the garage. He saved them from his original. He keeps saying he's going to get tires for his steel wheels and put the caps on it. He just hasn't gotten around to it.
By the way, nice Cobra!!
still a a very nice car also
Thanks
