Title: 2009 junkyard finds
Post by: rodsterh on June 08, 2009, 08:22:12 AM
I'm hoping to hit a few junkyards this summer but I've noticed the last couple of years it seems there have been fewer and fewer 83-88 Tbirds/Cougars to be found.

If you hit a junkyard this summer post here on what you found..or didn't find.

End summer 2008 junkyard run .... nothing.

Last summer was a very hard year for us.S metal was at an all time high, and yards were crushing everything in sight.I'll be calling some new yards today as well.I have a few parts I want, and Jerry (Daminc) needs some love for his Cougar as well.

When I needed a header panel for my cougar, I went to every junk yard in my county (probably 10 or so). I found 4 fox birds TOTAL and one blue max cougar. No 83-86 cougars at all. I called every junk yard that came up on google for columbus, probably 15 to 18 of them, ONE said they had a header panel. I said "how is the rest of the car?" they said, "All I have is a header panel". So I am totally striking out in central ohio. If it wasn't for here and ebay (and my embarassing stash of parts) I would be up the fecal cbuttstuff without any form of manual propulsion.

theres an old ford guy here localy, if you need a ford part, he's probably got it! lol  he has at least 15 fox birds, and a butt load of fox stangs.  He even  has a cobra II I want, but, he wants way too much I think, maybe I'm wrong. lol  $800 for a wrecked cobra II, no interior left but the front seats, center console, and dash. lol  the front clip is wrecked but the rest of the car is ok.

If you like, I can see if he'd be willing to ship parts.

I agree. I needed a better looking sunroof shade and found one in a '88 Turbocoupe on a typical Saturday (picture included). Came back that following Saturday and the car was CRUSHED!!!!

Yea I agree. I'm sure with high s metal prices lots of the older cars got crushed and never made it to the U-Pull yards. Even before the crushing frenzy I noticed less of the 83-86 cars each year. Last year there seemed to be -lots- of 95 to 2000 Taurus and Contours. My son has a Contour so he was happy picking through them. Nothing there for me though.

I'll be amazed if I find any 83-86 stuff in 2009. Time to watch Craigslist and pick them up before they head to the crusher.

Off-Topic but the coolest things I've ever found in the pulling yards have been a GNX and an AMX.  Seems like more and more the places are filling up with econo-cars and minivans though.

Before they started crushing everything a local u-pull-it had a large row of fox T-Birds & Cougars, now there's nothing! I asked a couple months ago if they were going to get more they said they were. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

around here any fox car is hard to find but I did run across 2 fox cougars and 3 newer xr-7's. The 2 fox cougars had most of the parts still intact. Header panel was crushed on one. Body was straight though. $200 a piece for them. I snapped a cell pic of one of them. Both 3.8 cars.

Not one single fox Mustang at any junk yards around here. Most people come to my house or call me for Mustang parts because I have 4 that I have picked up for parts over the years. Plus I got the one I was in my accident with.

There is about 5 or 6 4-eyes and about 8-10 87/88s at the two u-pulls here.  Too bad the heat index is getting into the 100+.  Trying to pull interior parts in direct sun wipes me out pretty quick.

I didn't see a single Fox Bird/Cougar at any yards around here in 08 except for the ones I brought in and, believe me, those don't count. As far as seeing a Fox Mustang, forget about it. Those are like gold. Well, at least the owners seem to think so....

They have several fox early models (82ish to 87ish with the honeycomb bumpers).  I think the rust really layed into the cars up north.  I am willing to fetch/trade some stuff for a good dash.
Title: Junkyard trip
Post by: rodsterh on June 16, 2009, 09:08:02 PM
Went to the local EZ Pull today and although I didn't find lots of goodies like years past, I was surprised there were at least a few 4-eyed TBirds and Cougar to dig through. Unfortunately most of them were already picked pretty hard. I suppose if there was a small item or two you needed you might have found it. Not like a few years ago when I would bring home a bunch of stuff I didn't need! :D

Cougars outscored TBirds this trip. One Cougar LS even had 6 wire wheel covers in the trunk! Most were 3.8L but one or two 5.0L. None of the cars had any decent parts on the front, (bezels, grilles, etc) I found an OK set of outside chrome mirrors for a 87 Cougar but since I wasn't sure if they would fit any of my TBirds I passed on them. Found some good seat belt sleeves there too but what a pain to remove. I didn't feel like getting into ripping out seats.

Just not a lot of good stuff to get excited about. Sure makes me wish I would have pulled that almost perfect brown TBird interior a few years ago!

It looked like a 86 TBird there had decent floors but I had the same place :hick: cut floors for me before and it was an ordeal so I figured no use even thinking about it.

Overcast and cool all day with only a little mist at one point so how bad can a day be walking through a junkyard! :D

So far I have seen two cars in the yard by me:

83 base Cougar no options, beat up, nothing of use for my T-bird.

87 base T-bird no options, beat up, nothing of use for my T-bird.

Basically I see no use in saving non like new parts. The cars were beat up so they had no useful parts for me ;)

Interesting..I've seen sites like this before and figured they could be helpful for those hard to find parts.

My concern would be the condition of the part they send. Most junkyards I've been too only care about making the sale, they don't care about what shape something is in. One time I wanted to buy a busted up grille just to experiment with but they said $15 for a grille, any grille regardless of condition.  I told them it would just get crushed but they didn't care.

Imagine the same place sending you a part.... "Hey, it's a mirror, you wanted a mirror, so the chrome is peeling and two studs are missing"

Don't get me started on junkyards...I'll never go back to the one that charged me $9 for 'carpet' which was a torn up floor mat I used to carry a greasy part...Harry's..this is for you! :flip:

Dealing with them remotely could be even more interesting!

Did you eventually buy parts you found this way, if so what did you buy and were you satisfied?

well I went to visit a dude today cuz he is the 2.3 guru in the panhandle. Well the guy has some amazing stuff. I swear he has at least 30 2.3 turbo cores lying around and enough parts to put 10 full cars back together. He even has a carb'd 2.3 turbo from a 79  Mustang or something...I wasnt paying close attention at that point  I stopped counting after 20 of the big VAM's.  He has 3 cars with full, nice raven interiors he said i could have for $100 each...that is everything from package tray to headliner to the dash. I never seen anything like it. He said he has parted over 30 turbo cars over the years and even has an 85 or so turbo cougar. I will get some pics cuz it's unbelievable. The thing is he is dead smack in the middle of a bad crack neighborhood, I am talking straight up compton style. The wife was freaking out.:D

to be honest, i am not sure about all of them, the stuff i have gotten, the condition didnt matter since it was a hidden part

Late summer junkyard run... disappointing again.

I don't know about anyone else but I think the days of finding much good 83-87 stuff in the yards are gone. If you find anything you better grab it. I guess it makes sense, these cars are 22+ years old!  Seems like most of the cars were around 1996 to 2001. Some older, some newer.

Saw a XJ6 Jag 'clunker'. Nice body panels but the interior was completely gutted.

There is a 'vintage' section so I had fun digging through that. Things are really picked hard on those cars but I found an original  FoMoCo script headlight from a 65 TBird and it still works!!! That was my find of the day...

If you hit a junkyard this summer, give us a junkyard report! :D

I'm guessing at least one, if not two rollovers on that odo, though.  No way that car has only 3600 miles on it.  Several indicators.  Check the tires to see if all four are same brand/size.  Look at rims if not, and see if they all match.  That thing wouldn't even have had one oil change, certainly not more than one with that kinda mileage on it.  No way to know how many rollovers on that odo.  Engine does look clean, but your local spray wash can do that.  That simply indicates someone took good care of it.  Certainly looks like a good block to work with.

Some grandma had it kept all these years, and then gave it to her grandson, who, within a week, got in a fender bender on the driver side, and didn't want it anymore.  So the local JY guy came and drove it away.  We're a small town, so driving anywhere can be avoided.  Heck my grandma never had a license....didn't need one.  I can't say if it's rolled or not, but it looks so clean...heck, there's no flaws at all in the interior.  And it has all 4 hubcaps in place.
Title: 2009 junkyard finds
Post by: rodsterh on August 30, 2009, 10:11:08 PM
My bad...it was late and I thought it was 36,000....

Hmmm now that it shows 3,600 I'm really curious. More than likely it's 103,600 but it's so original looking I would check the items Old_paint suggested. The tires don't look like a factory brand that I can recall but you really should check it over more.

Of course if possible, get us some more pictures! :D

I know if I found something like that locally and the price was right I'd drag it home. While maybe not a real desirable piece, if it wouldn't take much to get it back on the road, it would be a neat driver!

Keep us posted and thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I was there looking at a Ford Explorer taking rear end measurements, and across the way I saw it sitting there.  Anyhow, I asked about it, and the yard attendant explained the story to me.  I may investigate it further, but I'm strapped for cash right now, so I won't be buying anytime soon.    A couple vehicles down from that one is another Mercury version with a 429 in it.  Plus there's a Plymouth there that I'm also curious about getting.  And then there's the '78 Supercab w/460, C6, and AC.  Here's a couple pics:

Ok!
So I'm finally gonna hit up the local junkyard tomorrow.
Haven't been over there since last year.

I just called, And they say they have:
2 T-birds (1 '83!, 1 '87)
3 Cougars (1 '84, '85, 1 '88)

I'm gonna make a day of it, And hopefully bring back a nice haul. :burnout:
I'm probably gonna be digging deep into one of them as i need a Nicer carpet.

If anyone wants me to look for anything for them, LMK~And I'll see what i can do.

Well I decided to take a ride to our local u pull it, I haven't been there since spring so I was a little hopefull. There were three T-Birds all 95 up, no Cougars, but if I had the cash they did have a Mark VII I would have loved to stripped! It was still complete. The CFC cars are comming into the junkyards now, there's alot of nice cars there. One is a very nice 97 Bird, I'll add pics. of it. Have any of you heard of the Jeep Comanchee? It's the little pickup they made in the 80's. I didn't think it was eligable but there's one there, in mint condition other than the engine of course. It looks like it was garage kept, even the factory wheels were in great shape! It's a real shame that some of these cars are nothing but parts cars now!

Ok!
Got back from my Junkyard Adventure.

I brought my camera and took tons of pics, Even got the door stickers on all the Cougs and Birds if anyone wants to database them.

They even hauled out a wheat/gold 87 TC while i was there, Bummer is i now know why i never find any turbos or other goodies... Apparently the workers get first dibs on that stuff, Because it was already pulled before it hit the yard... Along with the hood, wheels and some other stuff.

My haul included:
TC Horn Button, 351W FI Rail, 351W Dip Tube+Stick, Tripminder, Keyless Entry Brain Box + Factory Code Card!, Rear Anti-Sway Bar from a SN-95 'Stang AND
Charcoal Carpet + Factory Charcoal Floor Mats in good shape~NEEDED THESE!
And black slim style deck lid in awesome shape~Been looking a long time for one of these!!!.

I'll get pictures posted up soon, Left camera in the aerostar, And dad took it to work.

I'll be planning a trip back in the next couple weeks as now looks to be the time for me to  do an 8.8axle swap!
There is a 1993 mustang in the (3.8) but it has the 5lug spindles and rotors i'll need (possibly brakes).
And TWO 1987 TC's with complete rears!.
They charge by pieces, So i need to price everything out~But it should only cost about $100!

On another note~
It was interesting to see something different on all these cougs and birds from last years batch.
Last year it seemed like i was the only one parting them out...
This year they were already picked pretty clean when i got there.
Interest seems to be picking up for these cars, It's about time we start getting some more acknowledgment. :mullet:

i hit two local yards today, pretty good selection for once. birds/cougars are hit or miss lately.

i took home-
near perfect 86 tbird tail lights- tiny scratch on the pass side, hardly noticeable
86 bird 5.0 computer harness
misc  i needed- bolts,etc

only bad thing is i have to repair the harness, someone cut the wires for the tfi. that's the one thing i hate about pick n pulls.

Wow, must be nice! A few years ago it was so muddy at the u pull it you had to walk around huge mud puddles to get to what you wanted to see, then you had to find something to lay on or neal on. Plus I had a wagon I was pulling my tools and findings in, it was so packed with mud the wheels wouldn't turn, I was thankfull my brother in law was with me to help push it! But it was alot of fun, and a great memory to have shared with him!

Got back to the boneyard today, As we couldnt get back yesterday.

Spindles were gone from the SN95.
But the Tie Rods were just laying there, So i snagged those.

But!
Got something i've been planning for a long long time...
Spent the next few hours (until they literally sent someone over to escort us out, lol).
Wrestling off the complete rear axle assembly of an '88 TC!

By the time the guy came over to kick us out (Dad and I), I was wrestling off one last attachment.
He was just in time to help lift it into the wheel barrow. :hick:

Did i mention it only cost $60.00? :roxor:
*Minus Brakes and Rotors~Going 5 lug.

Yea, My dad found it in the back of a Ranger.
He comes over and is like "Want a new tool?!" I'm like WTF~He starts cracking up.

I wouldnt have even takin' it except it got put in the wheelbarrow, And i noticed it up at the register and hid it right quick before they thought we were crazy or something. ;)

I made yet another trip back today, Hopefully wont need to go back for awhile now.

I spent most of my time taking apart a 1996 Explorer 8.8 Rear end.
But got what i was after, A 31 spline Locking 4.10 Ring/Whole Carrier & Pinion for 26.50!

I was also able to get the whole (Driver Side Only) TC Parking Brake Cable and Brackets.
The passenger side was clipped :(
And The whole rear end from the 2nd TC was completely gone and both cables got clipped.
Also wasn't able to get the rear brake hoses. :(

While i was checking out the TC's for cables, There was a guy looking for Turbo Stuff.
We talked a bit, (I told him to check out our forums) and he says he mostly does Turbo 'Stangs but he keep getting tempted to get a T-Bird. :hick:
He said i could contact him on TurboFord and NATO under "Jedneck".

They are putting out the cash for clunkers cars at this lot now, So a whole new row of C4C cars was there today.
Theres some real nice stuff that shouldn't be there IMO.
All of them have "cash 4 clunkers" + "BAD MOTOR" and "DO NOT SELL" on the windshields.

Amongst those were a White '89 5.0 Convertible Mustang, Thoroughly Torn into already.
An '83 Powder Blue SVO - Still pretty much complete besides the turbo missing and 2 wheels missing.

As usual, Took pics~Will get them up soon. :burnout:

Im probably off on year and color, But that's just what it looked like to me.
Pics coming up!~

Now that i look at the mustang again, I doubt its an SVO.
But there was something going on and missing under the hood.

The powder blue stang isn't an SVO it looks like an 81-82 plane jane 4 banger, not a turbo car. Alot of good parts there!

I just got back from our local U pull it and  scored both TURBOCOUPE door emblem inserts, trunk lid Thunderbird and TurboCoupe emblems, upper door bumpers,4 door pull covers, a perfect windowguide track for each door, coil and solenoid cover and both door lock switches with plates in near mint shape, all for $37.  Going back for the compressor and OEM radio this weekend,

Sure is! :D

Thanks for the pics...

Oh yea, I saw there was an 83 Heritage there too. Looks like it's loaded with good parts, clear turn signal lenses, electronic dash, mirrors, etc if you are bored and want to pick some more parts.  Why is this stuff always half way across the world??

If you get back there, could you grab the VIN?  And check to see if it has a date code stamp on the shock tower or rad support? Thanks...

Yea, The Heritage is trashed~It's a brutal sight. :(
Both clear signals are cracked/broken, E-Dash was good, Passenger mirror was wasted (Looks like the car got sideswiped), Both vent windows were busted, Electros looked to be PRIED OFF.
I took a pic of the door jamb tag, But all markings were completely faded/missing.
Did i mention it (was) a 5.0?

I'll see about getting back there by the end of the week, I'll be sure to let you know before hand if i do.

Ok,
I'm planning to get back there within the next few days.

Todays trip was foiled by hunting down why the Aerostar would not fire (Turned out to be a bad Ignition Module).
And the JY yard switched to winter hours.

Anyway,
If anyone has anything they might want to look for or pick up for them, take pictures? whatever~Let me know and i'll see what i can do.

Post by: Romeo2k on October 17, 2009, 12:39:25 PM
Well i got back there, later than wanted too~Day ended up being pretty bad (see crummy thread).

But i still got a few nice things:
Carter AFB 4BBL SB/BB Universal for Fords.
Dog bones and Tray from a thoroughly picked through SN95 V8 Stang (C4C).
Various 8.8 Innards.
A spoiler off a 90's Celica, Reminds me of a Fiero style spoiler.
an old large metal "JIMMY" (GMC?) badge/emblem i found laying in the back of a truck.
A small fire extinguisher that is full up and looks to have never been used, just a little weather wear.
A "10 aftermarket carb air cleaner assembly.

The row the brown heritage and 85 cougar was in is now empty and being filled with C4C cars.
So just the '87 and '88 TC are left, and they are pretty well picked through.

Another SN95 V8 Mustang came in since my last visit, And has already been picked clean of all the desireables, and  fast i must say.
Didnt even see it till i was leaving, sandwiched between 2 white cargo vans, In the middle of a HUGE 3" puddle, You had to skip on rims and tires to get a look at it. (Bet the rear axle was fun to get out :hick:)

Junkyard season is coming to an end for me, The weather is getting too bad, And the cars aren't coming in like they were through the summer.
Plus the 'yard itself is going through major construction and a possible management change.

Oh and i also got this "new" monitor that im currently staring at from the junkyard, lol.
My 15" Dell CRT has been flickering and getting blurrier by the day.
I've been complaining about it enough that apparently my dad talked to some guy and made a deal while i was at the register~And got me a 17" Viewsonic LCD Monitor that they were upgrading in there office.
Had some paint spots, grease and crud on it but it cleaned up really nice, And more importantly THINGS ARE LEGIBLE AGAIN!

well i've had 3 83-86 tbird/cougars this year in the yard...the '84 tbird *parted and then crushed*, the '85 which my dad had for 6 mo *front frame rotted, sold it to my buddy who's using the drivetrain, then i'll get the doors 'vent window style' tailights, headerpanel ect'*
then there was the '86 which i parted out for dad, myself, and for others who need the parts save glass trim pieces ect* oddly enough they were all v6 cars. also had a lsc here, and 5 fox mustangs.

Thanks for the update, good score on all your stuff. Unfortunately I think lots of the cars we are looking for will get will get crushed to make room for C4C if they didn't already.

Grab what you can now!!!

I'm hoping to make one more junkyard run this year if the weather cooperates. Not expecting to find much but you never know.

Had to make an unexpected and urgent WALK over to the junkyard sunday afternoon.

Brakes went out (Completely to the floor) on the Aerostar, After no signs of leakage or damage anywhere we figured Master Cylinder~Which we were correct (Seals Shot).

So after i get the thing off and taken apart, I expect to able to pick up the parts or at least a replacement MC from the 2 Parts Store down the street...
SURPRISE!
Both have NOTHING.

Only option now is dad miss work tomorrow, or i walk to the junkyard which closes in less than 2 hours. :toilet:

Good thing is, I made it over there in time to grab a nice one. (Looks New!)
Bolted it up, Bled and works great.

But i made a quick run through to see whats new, Even snapped a few quick shots with my new camera phone (Need to figure out how to upload/access them).

The whole ford section is mostly made up of C4C cars now.
Nothing too exciting that i noticed except for:
Gray '90? LX Hatch 4 Banger (N/A) Mustang w/ Sunroof.
Black '86 5.0 Thunderbird Excellent shape outside Not so goo inside. random vandal damage, Impounded according to note on rear window.
Mark VIII ~ Good Stuff Gone (3rd time i've missed out on the e-fan )
Turbo Probes (No Turbos)
And a classic, I think it was a '64 fairlane~But all that was really left was the frame and middle section + Engine (V8).

I was able to get the prop valve off the Tan '88 TC i've been needing, As the front drivetrain was missing now and i could easily access the bolt.
TC is thoroughly picked through now! more so than even the 2 sn95 mustangs.

I also grabbed the charcoal a-frame horn button cover and trunk emblem from the t-bird.

We have been looking to grab some 87 turbo coupe stuff at pull a part. It still has the motor and trans, but the turbo was long gone .  There's a base model with some decent door panels and a Cougar also listed. More to follow.

I found (yesterday) an '88 TC disc rear with 3.73 gears, complete and on the car for $50.00.I'll be picking it up Wednesday or Thursday and swapping it in.I'm keeping the drum brakes (I know a lot will disagree),but that way,no money spent on the needed pieces to get it going.Plus, for my use of the Sport, drums have been more than adequate.

Your car came equipped with drums, yes? In that case, I completely agree with you. I would, if I were you, keep all of the TC disc stuff in a well marked box to be used at a later date if so desired.

Good find, and quite a deal!

Shiny Side Up!

Hope all goes smooth during the swap:D Hopefully, I'll be able to do the exact same thing.

Made another un-planned trip over to the 'yard.

Grabbed the Master Cylinder (Dunno if i can even use it) and Prop Valve from a '94>Up GT 'Stang.
Also grabbed the Lower control arms so i could get the Ball Joints free, lol.
Grabbed the springs while i was at it.

And i grabbed the front stabilizer bar and mounts thinking i read somewhere it was beefier than the fox bar... But I'm unsure of this now.

Also looked through the ENTIRE yard for a 17" rim or 2 for temporary use on the front for a cobra brake swap and found NONE.
So i put up a wanted ad for 17's, And today i just got a reply that has me giddy!
Seller says they have "2 cragars w/ tires for $50" and only included this picture:

Waiting very impatiently for return e-mail with more info and maybe pictures. :rollin:

Great deal vinnie!, Mine costed like $80 at pull-a-part without brakes and stuff

Trip to the u-pull-it was good today. Found an 87 Tbird in with the Chrysler products. Pulled a crystal clear passenger side headlight, and a nice drivers side tailight. The drivers side headlight had moisture in it, but the lense was also crystal clear. Not really sure why I left it there now?
Also pulled to green lense tripminders out of a pair of four-eyed tbirds.
Pulled a pair of PBR calipers from a 99 stang, only to find one of the pistons was stuck, so they stayed there also.
Not a bad day really. Considering going back for that drivers side headlight now though.

I was afraid someone would say that. It's an hour drive, but it was a factory Ford lense. And when I say crystal clear, I mean clearer than any of the ones I've seen in a very long time. The drivers side headlight bucket looked to have some scars on the plating inside. But maybe it was just the moisture?

Did the 'stang still have spindles?
If so it might be worth the drive just grab those and resell them.

Possible good news on the wheel hunt~
After tons of back and forth e-mails of me trying to photo identify the rims this guy is selling (His camera is broke or lost or something) i finally found them:
Eagle Alloys Series 165
w/ Tires all 4 for $80!

Apparently he has them on an aerostar, which is getting repoed. :rollin:

I've already got a full set of spindles/hubs/rotors/calipers/brackets/lines/abs sensors from a 96 that I tried to sell once and no one wanted.  Seems everybody wants the 94/95 variety.  I've sort of decided to keep the entire setup for my TC.
I just really wish that piston hadn't been stuck on those PBR's.

Apparently 3 of them have new tires even.
Just gonna cost $80 plus 4 random wheels/donuts (JY) to replace them on the "repo" car.

Yesssssssss!
Turned out to be very labor intensive, But i got my rims!

I had to pick up a couple spares at the JY before we went over, But wasnt expecting the rims to be completely bolted up to the vehicle.

Good thing the guy had a jack, 'Cuz i didnt bring one...

So after jacking up and pulling off the first wheel, I go to put on one of the spares i brought~Wrong pattern! :toilet:
It was a Windstar, Guy kept calling it an Aerostar.

Dude lives out in the boonies, Has no drill or tools, And junkyard is as close as going home.

So we found a hardware store around the block, And grabbed the biggest file i could find. :mullet:

Filed down all the holes on the 3 spares i brought, Amd he had a spare mounted up underneath still.

And then i slapped those suckers on. :D

Gave him $80 and came home tired but super excited with my purchase:
17x9 Eagle Alloys, No bends, Next to no curb rash.
2 of them have BRAND NEW Pirelli PZERO Nero Tires.

Lug pattern apparently is not 5x4.5, So i need to look into hubs, Or machining these or something~But no doubt these are going on the bird, Love em!.

Probably lots of the same cars that were there this summer. Doesn't seem like they add new stuff too often. Some of the cars are picked so hard they should be pulled out and crushed to make room for something new. With all of the crushing I saw going on last time I was there, I get the feeling lots of the stuff coming in never makes it to the yard.

Went to Harry's in Allentown and there was a 1990 SC TBird anniversary car......C4C...looked to be a car that could have easily been saved.  Not much else there, and they were busy stacking and crushing.

We're probably gonna hit Harry's Pennsburg tomorrow. Really got nothing else to do, lol.  Mainly im in the market for a good light gray headliner for the 88 Cougar, but ill have to see what else i can come up with.  If nothing else maybe i can add some new emblems to my collection.  Ill let ya all know how it goes.

Let me know if you see any 83-86 TBirds. That's where I found a red 83 TC a year or two ago. Got some good stuff from it but I didn't take the front bumper cover and never got a chance to go back.

Oh yea, and at the time the guys there were d!cks!  I used a piece of old carpet to carry some parts since I forgot my bag and when I checked out they charged me $9 for it!!! They say you have to pay for everything you bring to the window (and carpet was $9) so beware. It was obvious the carpet was garbage...I tossed it in their garbage can in the parking lot.

Oh yea, if they are still d!cks, tell them I said HI and give them this from me.

if you spot any 95 to 98 Town Cars, could you snag a heated seat module and the full harness for it (just the part under the seat). I'm having a heck of a time hunting one down (especially the harness)

There is one t-bird up there an 88 5.0 auto car, and one 85? Cougar.  I was actually impressed with the amount of SN95 and New Edge mustangs in there.  Amazingly enough there are a lot of good parts on them yet, including spindles and rotors.

Here is a pic of the t-bird, my py cellphone didnt save the rest of the pics.

Quietleaf, there are quite of few of those cars up there, thanks
C4C.  I wish i woulda got your message sooner.  I was up there Sunday.

Thanks. Maybe I'll take a trip up there this weekend. It's not all that far. I'm tired of dealing with the Philly yards. Whenever I ask about a part all I ever get is an immediate "nope, we don't have any of those", like they just want to get rid of me.

Keep an eye out when you're up there for 5.0 Explorer intakes.  They are on the cash for clunker cars.  The heads and blocks are off limits but the intakes (GT-40) are ripe for the picking.  Well they were till i was there.  I just couldnt pass up 4 of em, heck and only $21 and change each.

Just for the heck of it, I might look for one of these just to see if it fits...it would be an interesting experiment...

If the white 87/88 is a five speed, does it still have the original shift ? That I would be interested in. Also, how clear are the inner marker lights on it?

The white TC was a 5 speed but didnt have a shifter  in it and I think it was missing one of the front inner markers.

Yes please, And also how much it would be for your time + shipping to 98037.
Was there any Fog Light Stuffs left?

Hate seeing early TC's in that condition, But at least the parts are getting used.

The early TC didn't have fog lights , but the brackets might have still been there.  I wouldn't think the cluster would cost anymore than 35-40 bucks, I'll find out while I'm there today.

Hey guys, I just got back.  Please see this thread for all the pics.  http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=26597

Romeo, the sign said clusters are $30 this yard also charges a "prep fee" and tax.

Jangus, I dug around in the white TC but still did not find the shifter .  The inner marker lights are in decent condition.  There is a pic in my other thread.

Wow, major score on Fox body cars. I haven't seen this many in one place for years!

Including an 83 Heritage and 84 TC!!

Is this interior from the red 84 you posted a picture of in the other thread?  A twin to my 83.

I notice it has different map pockets on the doors, I need to check to see if the 83 mesh style were unique to 83 only???

Thanks for the pictures.

Just curious, if you get back could you check the floors and the bottoms of the doors to see if the rust issue exists out there too? I'm sure it's a lot worse here in the northeast but curious to know if there will be any source of rust free parts.

I was also surprised at how many Fox body cars were here.  This is a very large yard though, I would say easily 1000+ cars.  This yard also has a sister lot on the other side of town that I may be checking out soon.

Yes, the tan interior is the red TC.

If the cars are from the region I would say rust would not be an issue, but I will check if I go back out there.

And feel free to keep snapping pictures, before long the cars will be gone and that's all we'll have to look at.

You have a goldmine there!

Hrm... So with everything (cost, prep, tax, shipping and your time) how much you think it would cost? My zip is 98037.

And my base '84 came with that style door panel and see it alot at the yard when early foxes come in (always broken).
I've seen a reg '83 in the yard awhile ago w/ manual windows that had mesh pockets~Otherwise i've only seen Heritages with this style:

Well, some bad news.  I stopped by the salvage yard today to pick up a pigtail for a stereo I just got for my Fiero.  I decided to go back to the Ford section to see if they had any new Fox body cars.  I was pretty hopeful as I walked back there because I saw a row of MN12s out in the aisle, but then I noticed they were taking the cars out of Cougar/Tbird section.  I asked how many of these cars were going and the told me all of them.  The next car to go to the crusher was the maroon 83-84 TC.  I've been heartbroken all day because of it.  I hope there is still some Foxes left next time I run down there.
