I'm really thinking of going carbed. Either I get a Mustang computer and spend hundreds on a chip and tuning, or try to track down the one type of 351W mass air and figure out how to swap it over. I know EFI is better, and that's why I went with it in the first place. But this car needs to move, and I'm tired of trying to figure out the voodoo.
So this is what I know I need:
Intake and Carb. Duh.
Throttle Kickdown cable from Lokar.
Fuel Pressure regulator to knock it down to 6 psi.
Duraspark (or equivalent) ignition system (distrib, ignition box, coil)
Is there anything else I'm forgetting? I'm also getting an Adjust-a-Jet metering block to make tuning a little easier.

Running EFI on a 351W really isn't a problem. You can use a 5.0 Mustang mass air ECM. If you need more fuel you can get a tune or use a Mustang Cobra ECM that runs 24# injectors.
I have a C3W1 in there, and the guy said that it was retuned to Cobra specs. So the ECM could be bad, but I don't know how to test it. If I could get my hands on a Mustang computer to try it, I'd give it a shot, but I don't want to blow $100. Running the 5.0 computer won't cause any problems, since it would be lean, right?
carb and efi both have their pro's and cons but I'd stick with the efi since its already on there. If you know your way around carbs well than go for it. If your going to go carb use a Holley and learn about them. Very easy to work on and tune once you learn your way around them. Rebuild kits are cheap and can be torn down and rebuilt in an hour (considering the carb hasn't sat in a box for 15 years with cruddy fuel in it then it'll need a dunk in carb solvent).
I was going to get a summit combo. Holley 600 with a Edelbrock performer. Pretty nice price. But if the 302 ECM will work, then I'll give EFI another shot.
Can anyone back that claim up?
A 302 ECM will get it running, but it's made to run 19# injectors so it won't run right if you have 24# injectors unless you tune it.
If you can find a X3Z computer then you can avoid the expense of a tune if you also use a '93 Cobra/91+ SC MAF.
Yes, it'll work...if it's a SD ecu, like mine, it'll work but not be the best in the world...if you do a MAF conversion, it should be a hell of a lot better.
I have both 19 and 24 lbs injectors and MAFs, so I could go either way. I went to OReilly's, and they had both stock and a Cobra ECU. Didn't feel like shelling out x2 for the cobra, so I'll throw the stock one in there.

Engine's in, it cranks and gets spark, but won't start, and now the new fuel pump won't prime due to the computer. Was looking into a Truck computer to get the 351 fuel mapping, but they seem scarce and rewiring is not my strong suit. I was just checking out other options.
as far as I know, no 351w came from the factory with mass-air except a '95 cobra-R. have you tried jumpering the fuel pump relay to eliminate the pump as the problem? and do you have a chip in the J3 port now?
Didn't the 94-96 351W F150s have MAF? I though they did.
nope. SD with batch injector firing.
Oh ok. I'm suprised that SD lasted that late in the trucks.
I jumped the relay and the intertia switch, no luck. It did work when I jumped across the ECU through the test port.
No, there was a 94-95 MAF Fx50, according to Ford Fuel Injection.com. I looked at the pinouts, and I'd have to go to from 2 O2 sensors to 1, and then there are a whole bunch of pins that don't match up.
