Title: 325-50-15's on a 83-88T-Bird /Cougar...they fit well
Post by: 83-88T-Bird Guy on June 02, 2009, 08:23:38 AM
I finially got some updated pics of the Gray Bird with the re-located rear and tires. As you can tell, this is my wife's ride. But I love driving it as well. :D

Here is how I got the BFG Drag Radials to fit in the un-tubbed wheel-wells.
I stretched the Mustang Southside lowers 3/4 inch and notched them to lower the car. Then air up both air bags to pre-load the suspension with 35 psi. I re-installed the factory upper control arms but I boxed them with flat plate. 87-88 Turbo Coupe rear way bar.

Then I put 79-93 Stang axles with 3/8 inch wheel spacers to center the tire in the fenderwell for a rub-free fit. The fender lip has been rolled.

Wheels are 15 x 9 with 5.5 back spacing.

I am glad it is finished.
The car rides much better now (especially without the solid adjustable uppers) and is a joy to drive on the highway. :D

I just had to pick my jaw up off the floor.  That is a BAD mother!!!  I wish I could say my car rides good.  With lowering springs, CHE control arms, and 17" wheels the ride suffers a little.

Nice work and get us some vids of some track runs!!

how close are you to the inner fenders?

you said you notched the LCAs to lower it, but the bags are pumped up to 35psi, so is it lowered?
