I have been struck! I think I found a good looking TC for $1300!!!
Going to look at it tomorrow. Hopefully if all goes well the sport will have a new roommate! I love the color of the car! I wouldnt care if it didnt run but he says it runs good with no problems and its running 18lbs of boost. He has alot of extra parts but I will probably let him keep them or put them on here for sale. Wish me luck! :D
Here is the car:

ps: do not call this guy and try to buy it or I will hurt you! lol
18lbs on the stock automatic - I'm not so sure about that. Anyways, looks like it may be a good base to work off of.
Looks good, hope it works out for you!
what do they run stock?
Just called the guy again and he said the transmission was rebuilt in 2002 and a shift kit was installed then but he didnt do it the previous owner did. also has 160k miles on it which it a little higher that I wanted but I still like the car.
well looks like you caught the bug quik!!!!!!! cant belive youre getting another one!!!!!
I want one of each model! lol
I can't and won't blame you at all. :)
Around here, I would say that is fair. The automatics came from the factory with 9.5psi of boost max due to the "weak transmission" used in the things. The manuals went up to 15psi. 150hp vs 190hp stock. Even with a shift kit, I don't know what those autos are capable of holding before they implode - they are much weaker than an AOD. Either way, if you wanted a Turbo Coupe, it's fair game. The engine bay looks unmolested.
Nice score. Looks great from the pics, and it came with spare parts. Lose the A4LD and it would be perfect.
So I should go ahead and get another AOD? I just want a TC for now. Its a fairly clean car...he is the 2nd owner of the car.
A AOD will not fit a 2.3... I've heard there are 5.0 to 2.3 adapters really dunno... Most of the 2.3 guys swap out for a T5, the ones in 4cyl Stangs are exactly same as what was used in the TC... The Stang A4LD will also work, but you may have to swap the valve bodies depending on year...
Its hard for me to drive a 5 speed now since my accident. I dont have much feeling in my left side...plus it hurts to lean over towards the shifter. But hey maybe by the time this one takes a dump I will be able to drive a 5 speed! lol
If you are in NC perhaps consider this one?

(not my car just saw the add on NATO)
I would love to have that one but its a little out of my price range right now.
I'd love to have matching birds though! lol
Paid for it today! Just cant get it until the end of the month! Which sucks...
I did get the title though! lol So I guess technically I own a 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe now! lol
Nice. These things grow on you quick.
Sweet man, I'm glad you were able to get it!!
Thanks guys....Will be even happier when I can get it home! lol
Since the car is so Close to Myrtle Beach SC we decided to make the trip down there, pick up the car, and catch a couple days of Mustang Week. So we will be there about 2 or 3 weeks. Just figured we would combine it all into one trip. Drive down with a stang and a t-bird and come back with 2 birds and a stang! Guess we will see whats faster on the way back. Should make for an interesting trip...
Sounds like you're going to have a great time!! This weekend is the All Ford Nats. at Carlisle, I'm a member of a mustang forum that's close to home. We have around 30 of us running together, I think only 3 or 4 of us have T-Birds, the rest are Stangs. I think we'll stand out a little. It's going to be a blast!!
Yeah that does sound fun. I got an older sister that lives in PA I might try to make it up that way sometime soon. As much as I hear about it on here it must be pretty nice.
Our convoy consist of:
3 Terminators
2 GT foxbody convertible mustangs
1 Supercharged LX hatchback
99 twin turbo cobra convertible
my 93 coupe mustang vortech supercharged (I will be driving that down)
My girl will be driving the sport since the mustang doesnt have A/C lol
A couple 99-04 GT's with a few mods and my dad will be the follow up pulling his 68 Shelby GT 350. Should be a pretty good ride down there.
I just put new rims and tires on the sport for the trip down. The Mustang still needs the fuel system installed and then its off to Fastlane for a tune.
Im sure once everyone calms down on the highway and quits racing each other we will get a little better gas milage! lol
That's what I'm thinking with our group. If I don't push it too much I can average anywhere from 20-25 mph. Not bad for an older car with 130,000 + miles. It would probably do better than that but I changed the rear from a 7.5 with 273's to an 8.8 with 355's. It's defenately much more fun now!! I've been doing some major polishing this week, I'm so glad I bought a power ball!! Those things work great!!
My sport gets pretty good gas milage. Probably the best out of the group that is going. It gets around 22 mpg. But its completely stock down to the 2:73 gear.
