I'd like to get some input from you ladies and gents on your favorite waxes (as the title suggests), pros, cons, ease of use, durability and of course shine. Hell, you could give me some pointers if you feel the necessary need to, I'd also like to know which is better of the two, hand application or machine buffing.
I've been using Turtle Wax ICE for about 2 years on my Cougar and more recently my T-Bird. So far I've tried the Liquid Clay Bar, the Paste Polish, Spray Detailer, and Interior Detailer. I'm quite happy with most of these products except for the clay bar, I apply the paste polish once every 2 weeks some might say thats a little compulsive, but they don't know what they're talking about.. *Ahem*, anyway give me some feedback on your faves and I might be so tempted to go out and try them.
And here's my product placement shot. :D

I've never had to wax anything before. always had new paint.
Well for us less fortunate we gotta make due with 20+ year old paint. And even if I had new paint I'd still wax that constantly, my car would be like a rolling retna burner. Thanks for the input Jerry. :p
Meguires 3 step and meguires tire shine.
But I used to use Turtle Wax Finish 2001 for my guitars, headlights and tail lights the last time I polished them (2003). Did a great job.
Ice is probably the new version of it.
Mother's.
Definately mothers. Nothing even comes close. Invented by a guy trying to keep his harley clean, lol.
I've never waxed the paint on any car I had, but when I re-finished my headlights on my car and truck I used Meguiar's Plastx, and although I haven't tried any others, I think that stuff is awesome.
Okay so I think I'll pick up some Mother's. Although I was expecting more of a response from you guys on this subject.
Here's another one then, any recommendations for a good engine degreaser? I've been using Gunk Engine Brite, not too stoked on the results though.
I use the orange cleaner/degreaser from Home depot. comes in a gallon.
but don't know if you have one there.
the purple stuff is good to, but thin it down, or it will also remove the paint on the car

Ironic again,,,,,
i was just telling the wife i dont know how to wax!!!
Im the one who doesnt know how much wax to use, happens every time. I end up with a bunch of hard wax crusties to try and get off.
My second round today , i just used the least amount possible and it came out perfect. As for wax types, I was also wanting to start a thread like this. lets see where it goes.
