Why is it that every May seems to be broken car month for me?
The Mustang got hit 2 years ago in May.
The Cougar has been down for almost the ENTIRE of this May due to my not having time to finish it.
Now the wife's 2000 Cougar....Driving along, it threw a code yesterday. P0455 -- Evaporative emission control system control leak detected (large leak)
Wonderful.... Doing some research found a TSB on how to actually troubleshoot the components though. Looks like I'll be busy....

Everything's pointing on me staying home and NOT attending Carlisle this year, but me & the wife haven't been away by ourselves for a LONG time. She's adamant on going. I have a bad feeling and I've learned to listen to that feeling and do what it tells me. Going to Carlisle is the opposite of what it's telling me.
I really hope I don't have to tell her "I told you so" :(
I can totally relate! getting a gut feeling kind of ruins the trip in my case. It never fails something happens.
Thats miserable man....hope ya get em all sorted out soon. Nothin' worse than busted toys.
Yeah, I cleared the code and I'm gonna wait.....A loose/faulty gas cap will set that code, but seeing as I haven't touched the cap in over a week, I'm gonna guess that's not the issue. I did make sure it was snugged up prior to clearing out the code.
On a side note, I'm currently drilling 4 holes in the firewall on the Stang for a tranny fluid overflow can.....Then I hafta get it inspected (runs out Sunday). Guess I gotta take her to work tonight and hope it don't rain and get it to the shop for that in the AM. I just clay-barred the entire car -- I do it once every year -- and waxed it after. Be a shame to waste all those man hours only to have to do it again, but seeing as how the weather looks, I'm going to predict rain on my trip down there anyway. Seems New York decided to copy Seattle's weather patterns for 2009....
Im JUST starting to see a *little* sun poking through from time to time as I sit here waiting to get going to work...definitely getting sick of this. Got a cold too and my spirits would just be a lot higher if I could see some sunshine. Guess it's supposed to be pretty much outta here by this evening/tomorrow.

Shocking......(http://smiliesftw.com/x/big_firemad.gif)
When it rains, it pours...
Seems like every time my father and I attempt to start farm work, we're set back by the rain. Hope ya get your car(s) sorted soon man.
Overflow can for the Stang is complete. I'm shocked at how thin the firewall is on that car....
I do believe our beloved Catbirds firewalls are of a heavier gauge metal...
Gonna drive the wife's car to the gym now and see if the code comes back....
Gut feeling vs Wife... That is a tough battle. Life is short take the chance. You should enjoy the time with her and the cars so might as well go.
It didnt rain today yet, but it will tomorrow. Havent had the chance to clean the pool since we uncovered it. Plus they are installing storm sewers on my street and half of the cross street (Mine is a dead end so only one way in and out). My entire street is gravel now. Fun crawl to try an avoid high spots so I dont s. I just hose off my car now, the best I can do for now.
