Title: Intake manifold

i see that people are putting the fors explorer intakes on their 5.0s.is that the same thing as the gt 40 intake and from what years will the explorer intakes fit on a 87 cougar 5.0

ford expolorer intakes are more like colbra's I think. It should switch righ over.

the gt40 intakes are tubular, the cobra/exploders are basically cast versions of the gt40.
I think it's 95 and newer exploders that have the good intake. they also have the gt40p heads. if you find one in a junkyard grab the heads, they're pretty decent for stock replacements. only problem is you need headers specifically made to fit (or get lucky and find ones that fit) because of the spark plug angle

The EGR port on the Explorer manifolds is different from that of the regular 5.0/Cobra manifolds.  Starting in 1998 the Explorer EGR passages were externally mounted on the manifold.  The 96 and 97 models had the EGR passages that were internal.
