ok guys im new to this web sit but not to cougars i just bought my third cougar and i found it in a garage where it had sat untouched for 5 years its an 87 aniversary all original the guy rebuilt the motor and tranny and then stopped because he got tired of it so all thats left is putting the cats back on (pardon the pun) i stole it for 400 bucks. ill put some pics on here when i get the inch of dust off of it.
Sweet another 20th anny! :D Cant wait to see the pictures...and yes definitely a great find. Always exciting to find something like that covered in dust, it's a rush like no other. Hope she cleans up nice. Hows the body?
:ttiwwp:
P.S. Welcome!!
Welcome, can't wait to see it.
Welcome man! Pics are needed when you're able to get em.
Sounds like a great find!
Welcome,
Mine was a garage find too. But I remember putting it in there years ago. :rollin:
yep, were gonna need those pics...
:jerry:...lol... i always wanted to use that....:hick:
im going to pic it up today and the body is in good shape no rust at all not now nor was there ever . the only flaw is on the drivers front fender where the guys son hit a mail box . i just read about the car and found out it has heated seats , i havnt checked yet but i was wondering if this is true , i have never seen that on a cougar .
ps my previous cougars were a jet black 88 xr7 with red leather and a baby blue 87 ls v6 .
hey zonda are those your oringinal wheels?
The 87 EVTM has a diagram for heated seats.
The switches should be on the center console.
hey thanks i found the switchs i guess mine are on the seats . man it needs some work
how do i post my pics on here
little box that has mountains on it...

upload to a photo hosting site or even myspace or something and insert the link in the insert image box. as far as straight uploading, i've never noticed or tried it on here.
Yes you can, with the "manage attachments" button.:D
thanks to all that helped me with the pics. she has been washed since these were taken and is soon to be waxed up . heres my problem all of the original emblems are gone is there anyone out there that can help me find them?
ok it refused to upload the big pic so heres the smaller one. this is what 5 years of dust looks like when it is left untouched
Defenately a great find. I can't believe you only paid $400.00 for it! I had bought an 88 Turbo Coupe for $300.00 but it wasn't anywhere near as nice as your's. Mine was so bad the shock tower was rotted almost completely off. I drove it for a year then stripped it. I've made a good bit of money and alot of people benifed from that purchase.
well the h pipe was off so i need to put that on and then the gas from is sitting is just plain shot so i have been running it to get it out. the speedo isnt working the power locks are only unlocking and i cant find the code to the door. The passenger fender has been replaced and they did a horrible job on the paint , but hey its got a frest 5.0 and tranny what can ya do
i almost bought a turbo coupe that the guy said had a bad cylinder but when i was under the hood i saw one of the injectors was unplugged and when he saw that he backed out the next day and put it on ebay . i was so dissapointed :shakehead
That defenately sucked for you but I'm sure the owner was happy to find that!!
I'm assuming you have the keyless entry? If the owners manual is in the glove box the code will be in it, they also put it in the trunk, I believe it's on the hinge. For what you paid for the car it wouldn't take much to fix.
oh ya im for sure happy to have the car those are just the issues it has.
Great find!
Dude that looks incredibly solid....nothing like a rust-free body. Shooting paint is one thing...panel work = :punchballs:. Nice find. And no, these are mustang ten-hole wheels my dad bought when the car was his, I threw them on becuase they were sitting in the shed and have almost new tires and my old ones were beyond spent.
Your seats look nice, and your passenger side seatbelt reciever plastic cover is MINT!!! Im soooo jealous :hick: as are many others probably. Pretty common problem with these cars.
ok so i got the exhaust on now and wow! i can hear again. Gonna pull the plugs clean and gap them and then put a timing light on her and see what we are looking at , still think the gas is a problem till i get through the first tank of gas. Does anyone out there know if i can put a mustang exhaust on the cougar or can you suggest a nice dual exhaust on my ls? Also its going to need new shocks and struts so i thought about lowing it a bit so any suggestions would be helpfull. thanks all.:rollin:
You can use an exhaust for a fox mustang, the only problem is the tail pipes are too short. I have 2 1/2" pipes all the way back, using an off-road x-pipe and flowmasters. I love the way it sounds!! Stay away from lowering springs for a mustang. I had a set of ford motorsport springs and it was way to low, plus it rode terrible! I was lucky and found a set on ebay for it, it's only about an inch lower than stock but I like it, plus the ride came back. You can check out my mod list on my cardomain site. I've done quite a bit to it over the years.
It should be on the passenger side trunk hinge... If not there, it'll be on the keyless control module... The module is on the driver side drop panel under the package tray...
Nice find...
