I think your high if you pay $1800 for a wrecked TC that is wore inside and out that grinds gears and has how many miles....???????

Id give him $400 max, just me.

Maybe if he finds someone that has a serious woodie for a TC(are you that guy??), or needed parts for a SVO Mustang... Still even then, he's a $1000 high...

I paid $1215 for mine back in '97 and it has a mint interior...

Start saving, he'll probably drop the price at least in half, then you can deal... $500-$600 tops...

A friend tried to give me a '88 TC that was better than that one, I turned it down(was wrecked and repaired but is a little rusty, now also a bad turbo)... It has both a rebuilt engine and transmission... Convinced him he should swap them into a Ranger... ...

I paid $400 for mine it has a small rust spot that is only surface and the passenger mirror is broken. Also the turbo was boosting only 5 lbs.

but still interior and exterior in very nice shape..

I would offer $400 to start but don't go any higher than $800

why buy a wreck when you can expand your search out and find ones like this.  He started off asking 2500.  http://mobile.craigslist.org/cto/1162180043.html

it's a 2 edged sword isnt it, on one hand you want these things to be worth a  mint, but on the other you dont want to pay a mint! :wtf:
