Title: my power antenna is powerless
Post by: blackcatdaddy on April 03, 2005, 09:08:45 PM
My Manual power antenna in my 88 xr-7 just stopped working. I nevery really  used it but I decided to put it down when I hopped on the highway and the ed thing just stayed there!  It did not move and I did not hear the usual buzz that it makes when it goes up or down. Has anyone else had this problem. BTW: I did check the fuse already and I still get good reception.

How hard is it to push down/pull up by hand?  Iv'e seen it where if you just cycle it up and down a few times it will free up enough to work on its own.  Once you get it open clean it off really well and wax it too.  Smoother metal means less friction.

I've had a problem involving the power switch - it's annoying as heck! It'll work for a while when i take it apart then screw up. Contacts are clean - but it's a double pole switch and just seems flaky - I'll figure it out one of these days!
