A family friend gave me their 64 Fairlane 500 that was first owned by her grandmother. No that is not rust on the hood roof or trunk, it's just really dirty. It actually has less body rust than the cougar :giggle: I just brought it home today and will start the cleaning process tomorrow.
It's a 260 V-8 auto with 114,000 miles.
Even though it's a four door, I just couldn't resist.

man clean her up, and get some pics of it.... Looks like an easy car to restore!!
4-door or not...that looks like a very solid base for a restoration project.
that sweetheart is beautifull...im jelous
I'd have taken it in half a heartbeat and not even bothered to say "Why not?". Both '64 Galaxies and Fairlanes are a weakness I'll have to deal with someday. :D Wouldn't even care if one of 'em was a 4-door.
Wana double your money on it? :D
Thats awesome, clean it up, some WWW's, (http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=1653&highlight=bored) and cruise it
I would of done the same thing. I would love to bring one of those back. Maybe in about 5 years when Im done with the T-Bird.
would you concider selling it?
Not For Sale!!!! She's all mine! :grinno: I don't know about WWW's. I'm not too thrilled about the factory style hub caps so I think a nice new set of aftermarket chrome wheels with some wider low profile tires will be in order. Not sure what road I'll take in that department but I have lots of time to figure all that out.
Thanks everyone for the positive comments!
*COUGH* *COUGH* *COUGH* Cragar SS's *COUGH* *COUGH* *COUGH*
Cragar SS's. I kinda like that idea.

Nah...wider +1 or +2 black steelies with some baby moons and some newer meats.....
It don't need the "bling"
NICE! If you were to paint it I would suggest keeping the base color and turn everything that is white into a nice silver. Just my opinion. So what did YOU give in return? :giggle:
i was thinking more along the line of OLD cragar ss's like theese

...says the "anti-bling" man. With whom I agree.
Chop the top and suicide that bitch! :D Being a 4-dr, you can customize to your hearts content and still not offend the purists.
'64 Fairlanes are very popular cars, If it were a 2 dr it would be worth $3000-$4000 as it sets. Cleaned up and running decent, I'd guess it would bring $2000-$2500 fairly easily...
If it were a 2dr this is the route I'd take... Thunderbolt clone..

Even the 4dr could make a interestng ride, as this wagon proves..

pssh. That's just a wannabe Nomad, TC50. :moon:
jk
yeah i'm with chuck on the baby moons, would make a real nice touring car. For the wagons, I like the '64 Falcons.
Believe it or not, I did give something in return. I promised to take care of it! Also to let her know when it's all done and I take it to it's first car show. She's looking forward to seeing it in tip top shape again and I'll let her take it for a spin. It could easily be modified but I tend to have a weird conscience with certain cars of that era about modifications. If the car is complete, original, and running as this one is, I most likely will not make any major changes. Besides I have never seen any 64 Fairlanes in this area at any shows. Now if it were a 2 door not in running condition it be time for a Thunderbolt clone
Just the type of remark you'd expect from a GM man... :flip:
I do my best. :hick:
My old Boss used to have a white 2-dr version of that. One of the few cars I've driven in that didn't have seatbelts. What a vulnerable feeling. I kept puting my hand on the dash to brace myself. Nice car, though, until his wife drove it dry of oil.
