One time, back when I had my 87 XR-7, it broke down on the highway. I had to walk to a payphone (before the days of cellphones, heh). When I got back to the car, my XR-7 emblem on the side was just a silver circle. The center was gone. I couldn't find it anywhere. Perhaps somebody stole it.
Anyhow, on this 85 XR-7 I just bought, when I looked at it initially, all was well. I had a local flatbed company go pick it up for me and bring it home. When it got here I wasn't home. When I got home, I about had a stroke, because there was my new car in the driveway with a dag-blasted silver circle where the emblem should be!
Luckily, I opened the door and the center was laying on the seat. The driver of the wrecker must have seen it fall off (or knocked it off himself) and tossed it inside.
Anyhow, I am sure I am not the only one whom this has happened to. what should I use to glue it back in? I wanna make sure it will STAY. These emblems are completely exstinct in my area. Any success stories? I am about to jerk the other one off and reglue it too just for safety!

Sand the back a little, and use a little JB Wed.That'll hold it.
Would you believe...
I went out today to work on my project, and shut the passenger door...
And the other XR-7 center fell out!

I would be investing in a bubble for the car with your luck. I had this problem on my 79. I closed the trunk and the XR-7 center from the lock cover fell out.
What are we talking about? Sorry for sounding like a noob. lol
The emblems on the early XR-7's didn't have the cat head logo in the sail panels like the normal Cougars
Yeah, the emblem in his siggy! The grey part falls off and you are left with a bare, glue-covered silver dome. Like this:
