Ok, so spring is here and Summer is just around the corner. This means that many of us will be busy getting projects done before the snow flies again. I have a whole lot of projects that I've got to do, and few of them have anything to do with the T-Bird (after three years of slumber, it will be driven this year). I know I'm not the only one who's got a busy summer ahead, so here it is: Post up your summer project plans, either car related or not. Let this thread stand as a progress meter, where you can brag about how much you got done, or hang your head in shame about how much you didn't get done. Upgrade your posts as you complete your projects.
My projects can be broken down into three categories: "must be done come hell or high water", "I really SHOULD be doing this", and "Would be nice to find the time".
Under the "MUST BE DONE" section:- Build new bench in the garage and set up tools Dad has given me over the past several Christmases (DONE)
- Gather, cut, and split 8 cords of hardwood (DONE)
- Build a dog run so I can let the dog out without confining him to the patio (DONE)
- Build a box garden around the patio (DONE)
- Paint (stain) the patio, dog run and garden box (DONE)
- Rebuild the firebox in the wood furnace (needs new fire brick and framework to hold it together) (DONE)
- Tile the bathroom (my brother, a tile installer, should be doing this for me, but after 3 years I'm tired of waiting) (DONE)
- Tile kitchen backsplash (DONE)
- Build my waste oil stove for the garage (DONE)
- Special top-secret project that has nothing to do with cars or the house but must be done, details of which won't be released until it's done (Phase one about 90% finished as of October 3, projected phase one completion date pushed back to Oct 18-ish)
Under "I really should be doing this"- Build a small utility trailer for hauling behind the ATV (the body of the trailer will be a 200-gallon oil tank, I already have the axle, springs, etc)
- Build a shed for storing ATV's and lawn equipment (I think I may have access to a fiberglass 7X16 cube van body with roll up door to use for this purpose)
- Install a wood stove either in the living or dining room (the wood furnace works OK but I don't like having a fire going unattended in the basp00get)
- Replace the garage doors
- Build a roof over the patio *In progress as of July 5*
- Replace the front door on the house (the current one is 100 years old - nice to look at, but terribly inefficient)
Under "Would be nice to find the time":- Level out an area of the yard to install an above ground pool, even one of those blow-up jobs would be nice
- Get new gravel for the driveway to prevent the mud bog I had here this spring
- Upgrade the engine in the T-Bird to HO specs - I have all the parts except the cam, but this is low priority right now because I want to DRIVE it!
- Finish drywalling the office, a job that was started 3 years ago
Obviously some of these things can be prioritized. For example, I need to
get the firewood now but can pick at cutting/splitting it over the summer, and the dog run/garden would be nice to have finished ASAP as well (I'll be starting that this weekend), but the waste oil stove can wait until later in the year, as can the tiling, which can be done regardless of weather.
So there you have it. My very busy summer plans. Note that all of this is stuff I need to do for myself, so it doesn't take into consideration things that my family wil want me to do for them (repair broken vehicles, etc). I've just laid it all out publicly, so I'm obligated to at least get the "must be done" stuff finished.
Let's hear how busy you guys will be...

When I bought my house I had to paint EVERY room.... They were all pink except for one bedroom. Even the front siding was pink. I redid that last summer.

ttt, added some updates for my progress so far. How are you guys all making out?
So far so good. Sign on the refinance on Tuesday, which'll help greatly. Now if I could just get back to work full time.
As for the Tbird, I'm currently looking for an earlier style K-member (stang type) found one, but it's in a field and he said bring torches. But I've been layed up for awhile since I stepped on a nail while tearing down our old house. Right up through the ball of my left foot. I won't say how much that hurt.
My list grows larger each week
Holy my list is endless. Gotta get my bird back together and drivable for this winter. Really would like to swap my capri's drivetrain into my festiva, and maybe next year swap the tbird stuff into my fairmont (yeah I know but my birds body is shot).

- found a new job, with a real payroll, and some benefits.
- trimmed all my trees.

Looking at my list now, almost none of it is going to get done. Funny how fast my priorities change.
Bump. Updated first post to reflect progress made so far.

Well, the pool is done, the yard is landscaped. looks like another month before the concrete goes in for the garage addition. Meanwhile, the basp00get recording studio, will be worked on when time permits. can't wait till winter, I never have any time do do anything in the summer for some reason.
Only thing I've accomplished is my foot got better.
Almost ready to check another project off my list.
Ready for concrete..... My garage will now be officially longer then my house. I must be nuts
(http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee79/daminc/our%20house/Garage%20addition/IMG_5830.jpg)
MUST DO
- Finish tiling kitchen before wife gets back from england
- Clean kitchen before wife returns
- Do laundry before wife returns
- Remember to clean history off computer before wife returns!
-Fix Merkur so I can sell it
- Fix 87 Sport so I can sell it
- Start networking for a job
Think I'll sticky this, so we won't have to search for it every time we want to update. I've just updated my list in the first post with my progress so far
Cool, can't tell you how long I looked for this yesterday. LOL
This project is still slow going. but it's progress.

Oh my, the list is long, and keeps getting longer ... :toilet:
MUST BE DONE
0) Save up to take the missus back home to Oz. First/foremost, and yesterday was too late.
1) Get the title/tag/insurance for the new toy (tomorrow without fail)
2) Build a new "chicken coop". Now that I have TWO 86 Birds, need a place to get them in out of the weather and so I can start doing some serious work on my first one. It needs to be large enough for two '86 Birds, one 92 F-150, and one '70 Beetle Baja. From experience, the doors will have to be at least 10 ft wide. Sticking a '92 F-150 through 9 foot doors is like cramming 10 pounds of Sh** in a 5 pound bag.
3) Replace the ENTIRE steering system on the original Blue Bird.
4) Fix hesitation problem on original Blue Bird
5) Prep original Blue Bird for painting. Gonna strip all trim, lights, remove header, bumper covers and interior pieces possible so I can get a FULL paint job. Will probably do most of the dent relief myself. No way I'll try to paint it though. I'm not that good with an air gun, and simply don't have the time for the paint process.
6) Repair stripped cylinder/head stud on VW engine and get it running again.
I REALLY SHOULD ...
1) Grade/level/gravel a parking spot for the TOO many cars I have here. Looks like a used car lot. Step 1 above would probably solve that, though. Would be nice for visitors, though.
2) Get some photos of the new toy on the forum.
4) Get ler/exhaust for the new toy
WOULD BE REALLY NICE TO ....
1) This list is entirely too long
I have to save up $550 for my seats to be recovered like new...
Install Dynomat throughout the Sport
Get the underhood area detailed like it used to be
Install the a/c equipment (gotta get a new evaporator)
Have the windows tinted
Get the trunk "optioned" the way i want it
Replace the rear package shelf
and more.................
my to do list for the cougar:
new front struts
front end alignment
put new tires on turbine wheels and install them
5% tint on windows
Just updating the progress. Summer is winding down and almost all of my "MUST BE DONE" list is completed :hick: Just got the oil stove operational, am about to start a thread on it.
Not much has changed yet, except the trailer house is gone, save for the frame.
Ready for doors and some trim on the new shop......
Needs cedar siding on the front to match the house. then I't officially done
ain't done on anything else though.
Boy I need a vacation .lol
fired up the turbo motor in my ranger today! checked that off the list.
Bump, just adding that I've finished the last "mandatory" project today (rebuilt the wood furnace fire box). My "To Do" list is finally complete, except for the top-secret project that I added. That project, or phase one of it anyway, is about 90% complete. I've had to push the estimated completion date back by a week, but I'm extremely pleased with its progress so far...
Still haven't done the siding and trim on the garage. But I got the pool cover on today. Seems like I just got water in it. :hick:
My list should be done the year after I retire. :D
My list...
Paint every room in the house.
Renovate the main bathroom.
Put new siding on the front of the house.
Install new gutters all around.
Install a new stove & dishwasher.
Put out house on the market.
Buy a house in Tennessee.
Find a job in Tennessee.
Move to Tennessee.
Oh, and tomorrow I need to have tire put on my wife's SLK as the left front tire is coming apart.
Shiny Side Up!
Bill
within a month:
-buy 89 Mustang GT 5 speed parts car
-swap 5 speed, 8.8, e7 heads, and MAF from the GT onto t-bird
-get a place to live
within the next 6 months:
-rebuild the 89 GT short block w/ aftermarket pistons to clear valves
-buy edelbrock e-street 2.02 heads, TFS stage 2 cam (i think), TFS R intake, 1.6 roller rockers, summit 75mm TB, granatelli 90mm maf, 30lbs injectors and iunstall on above engine.
-pray that the t5 holds up long enough to save up for a TKO or a set of astro or g-force gears
-31 spline upgrade and 3.73 gears
My to do list:
EVERYTHING it seems... LOL!
Hey, that's my list!! :D
Shiny Side Up!
Bill
Finished up for the year on the trailer, I think. All that's left is the Tbird room.
Cut wood. (on hold, due to rain, no 4x4 truck, and chainsaw won't run)
install engine and trans into Bird.
wire and plumb said engine.
start (hopefully) said engine.
swap stang 8.8 into tbird.
put brakes on tbird so I can drive it, if the engine does start and run without any problems.
measure from power pole to shop, and get some cable from my supervisor, and bury it before the ground dries up or freezes. ie; soon. (tomorrow's task, as well)
move a bronco and another older ford out of yard, and behind a shed (on hold, due to the 43 inches of rain we've had this week...)
get radiator out of blue tractor and take to shop for repair
(I should do this tomorrow...same shop, see next item lol)
fix brake line leak on blue chevy truck
(it's going to the shop tomorrow, price quoted to me=worth paying to have it done faster. I need the truck by sunday..)
replace door on ford truck, 2 new tires, and fix whatever is causing check engine light to come on
if it ever dries up, cut soybeans. probably have to wait till after it freezes up though, ughhh.
there's a shiznit-ton of other stuff I could list, but these are the biggest.
Well my list almost completely changed and I didnt complete half of what I had on there. Maybe one day Ill get my shiznit straight and keep it that way.
I give up on my stuff. it'll get done when it happens I guess.
Still have to finish the inside of the shop.... wiring, insulate, drywall, paint, heat....... it goes on. lol
The car never got primed, or finished sanded. looks like it's a winter project now. I''ll have time then.
Still trying to pack things away from the summer, but the rain keeps stopping that plan. (stupid rain)
Oh well, tomorrow's another day. ;)
And to top it off.... facebook is really addicting. lol
2 down, 4 to go
Demolition is done, need to purchase a tub surround, toilet, sink, and vanity.
On the schedule for next week, unless it rains all week... again.
Still to be scheduled!
We're putting in an offer on one this week!
Looking...
My wife has a start date of April 5th
So we got the tires... then on Monday of this week, the supercharger decided to seize up! Thank God we had purchased a warranty when we bought the car!
Shiny Side Up!
Bill
In a nutshell, with the weather the way it is, I can't do much but sit here.
93 MERCURY COUGAR 3.8
1. Completely New interior from 94-97
2. 2 tone seats (Ford Blue and Gray)
3. Custom Paint
4. New rear end, undecided on the gear ratio, thinkin 3.73, uprading rear brakes to disc and kicking the drums to the curb.
5. New hood from supercoupeperformance
Seems you got a plan!, I'm sure you will have more. It just happens!
Make us proud, lol.
I still need to install one of my sets of roller rockers, have the windows tinted, finish getting the a/c parts and get that going, and have the seats re-covered.........there's more, but I'll get to it eventually.
Repaint , this weekend. Fix my aggressive side of me. The reason I'm repainting.
It was, I laughed when I read it to.
Yeah, all the time ill do something with it, but thats all of my, no matter what will get done list.
Im thinking of getting another 1 down the road. tbird or cougar, 94-97, and put a 428 or 427 in it.
Figured I would give a little update...
We are now in Lenoir City, TN, and the new house needs a few things.
1) Have a French Drain installed down the front of the house (I have less invested in my TC than this little project will cost!)
2) Finish repairing the house wiring and installing the sockets and switches.
3) Paint the guest bedroom (it is currently a horrid shade of pink).
4) Find the garage. I know it's under all of the boxes somewhere...
5) Once the garage has been found, install the air conditioning.
6) Start my business.
7) Work on my 442.
Shiny Side Up!

I'm glad I don't have Jerry's list, lol. Anyhow, got the motor mounts about wrapped up, and will move onto the exhaust next. Stripped a parts truck, and that left yesterday. And so the to-do list moves on to the remaining part of the trailer house.....the Tbird room.
ooooo, a tbird room
introducing my NEW to-do list:
Everything!
I think that this three syllable, all-encompassing word sums it all right the hell up, lol.
I think I need a second (and dare say a third) job, a time machine, and the ability to do without such mere and mediocre things as food, sleep, such.
However, since I'm no immortal, I just keep on pluggin' away....
About all I can do I reckon. :hick:
one more for me H.I.D head lights

2) Find a factory Ford Premium Sound CD Player

Must Be Done:
Move out of NY........
Needs to be done:
Move out of NY.......
Anyone near North Las Vegas know of any 3-4 BR house for rent??
Tint the windows
charge up the a/c
6.30 push rods
re-cover the seats
new paint at the end of next year
watch my new Starsky and Hutch DVDs.
More coming up.
My to do list as of late is pretty simple: sit in front of the AC.
My "To Do" List could co on forever.
1. Find a nice catless X-Pipe.
2. Paint the shorties I just bought.
3. Have exhaust installed.
4. Find front Hub assemblies for 5 lug.
5. Finish Rear 5-lug.
6. Paint TC hood.
7. Smog Delete.
8. Install Sequential Tailights I've had sitting around for over 2 years.
9. Find a great paying job where I can work on my Cougar all day
New on my list:
1) rebuilt tranny, mines toast.
2) New paint, my paint is peelin like wallpaper in a fart museum. (but how many MN12s arent. clearcoat)
Well, since funds are low,I washed and waxed the Sport this morning (man, that's one good lookin' Bird !!!),and now,on the couch for the day.I'll resume some kind of work this Saturday on the Sport.
Hummm. Let's see, the 92 MN-12 Tbird is looking poorly.
Got the tranny leak fixed so it's off the list.
1. Replace everything on the front suspension.
2. Replace the headlineer
3. Recover the visors
4. New wheels and tires
5. Make the fog lights work again
6. Figure out how to install sequential turn signals. Now that's a project.
:D
Install my HO cam, 19lb injectors and ECM :D
My funds are always low haha. I always find something "I have to have". Now that I've got some of the 5-lug stuff purchased and getting my exhaust finished, maybe this bad boy will see some road time soon. I hate keeping it cooped up. Even if it is sitting next to my Dad's '70 Chevelle.
They've got a universal kit you could install with the rear runnin lights possibly, and just have 2 signals instead of the three, im thinkin of doin that with the cougar.
The rear "trunk" lights on the MN-12's are LEDs in a strip of 12 or so. I'd have to figure out how to install something else. That part is a "dream'' of mine since the right side doesn't work.
yeah, i know, i cut them put of a tbird in the junkyard and put them in mine. It was a idea though, i didnt know how much thought you had in it.
You could still make the L.E.Ds work sequential. Just takes some time to wire it in, and know resistor values. It would take changing the strips into 3 seperate strips per side. Do-able, but time consuming.
Well, the French drain is in, and they will be finishing the walk today or tomorrow.
The A/C is installed in the garage, though the inside of the garage hasn't exactly been "found". The storage area in the garage attic has been set up with nice shelves and is in the process of being organized.
A new one on the list will be to sell off all my TC stuff since the car is totaled. Worse, the rebuilt turbo blew a seal in Maryland, and so it is sitting all smelly from oil smoke in my sister's yard.
If the buy-back isn't too crazy, I'll be parting it out, but if it is I'll only be selling a few choice items... sigh
Shiny Side Up!
Bill
Well for me and my family. We got a few things to get done now that winter is here. One is get a fuse box for our lincoln. Get three new tires for the cougar. Put stereo in it as well (hidden). Do some engine mods like valve covers, pulley kits, exhaust, rims. New chrome powered antenna for the lincoln since someone broke it. Get ready for trip to texas this year. Even thinking of moving back but to galveston. So anyone on here from that area give me a shout out
My new list....
-Sell the rest of my parts
-Get my GT40 intake done asap
-Send Jerry the FPV Explorer intake the next day

Well last spring while charging/jump starting my T-Bird to get it ready for the show season I didn't realize my stereo was on and blew my 2 10" rockford fosgate subs. It really sucked not having a descent sounding system last summer so I got a new set to install. I also bought a Kenwood head unit from the jy that look like new so I'm going to repace the JVC one I have now. Hopefully it'll work.
I'm also going to try something different with my interrior, mine is a Base T-Bird and had the grey interrior, I've alread swapped the seats for the raven leather TC/Sport seats and a consol. Now I've bought a set of the upper raven panels, I'm going to put those in and leave the base lower panels. I think it's going to look good because the dash is two tone, dark on top and light on the bottom. So I think it'll tie it all in with it and also with the two tone exterrior.
And of course my yearly detail.
Been a while since I posted here. So far on my list for the rest of winter:

Put all that stuff on this weekend.
I already have my headers mounted so, trailer it to the exhaust shop and get that done. Buy some new rims with rubber. Drive it for the summer.
Work on the interior. Someone before me really did a hack job on the poor car. They were trying to make it into a hotrod.
Judging by the trim pieces that are torn up someone didn't know how to use a screwdriver :asshole:
Find some raised white letter tires for my turbine wheels.
This summer is mainly the rear end, cuz thats what my tax return covers :hick:
-Upgrade to 8.8 inch rear
-31 spline axles
-Detroit locker or any good posi type
-Ring and pinion (Still deciding on what gear ratio)
-C-clip eliminators
-Blow proof reinforcing cover
-New brakes and lines
-new yoke, bearings, seals, yada yada yada
-Custom fabbed braces
-Coil over setup
-All control arms and bushings
-custom fab ladder bars or slap bars or something lol
After that the next main thing is to find a rich old woman, make her my suger moma, and get my new 331 ci forged short block and throw a blower on it. :punchballs:
