Does anyone have any good suggestions for a rally car? I was thinking of throwing a 2.3T into a Miata. I have also considered an 83-86 Cougar (mainly because I want one again lol) I want to get started in the late summer and work on it as a winter project. It could take me up to 2 years to complete.
All suggestions are welcome as long as it's a Ford!!! :burnout:
btw I missed the hill climb last year (oldest rally race, second oldest of any auto race behind the indy 500.) and I will not make that mistake again. I plan on taking plenty of pics this year :D
MIATA??????? How bout a festiva!!!!!!!!!! or.............any ole $#!tbox you can grab for cheap!!!!
Here's a car already built...
XR4 Rally car (http://www.turboford.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=013426;p=1)
that cars even in the right area.
I think one of these cars would make a good rally car. I think a pinto would do better though. There fairly light, and all the mustang stuff bolts in as well.
I always loved Merkurs
why not a rally truck? just saying;)
scan your local craigslist, your bound to find something thatll catch your eye, all the cars i could suggest are either too old to be competative or werent made for the US.
I know man.. that car is amazing I have already seen it.
It's the $11k that throws me off lol
There is a merkur for sale in my area for $600, so I might jump on that.
A kid in my automotive class had one a xr4ti i believe it was called. I wouldent mind grabbing one myself but parts around here seem a bit hard to come by (The kid that was in my auto class had a 2nd one that he used for parts.)
Thought you guys might find this interesting/funny

That car is already a built, proven performer... You'll be into it for more than $11K if you try and build one.
