My latest project, now the tripminder is installed and functional, is to add a digital overhead console with temp and compass. The '96 Explorer one seems to fit the headliner quite nicely, don't you think?

Of course I'm gonna paint it - brown on a red headliner looks kinda stupid...
That does fit nicely...(slaps monitor), looks almost red on this freebe(curbside pickup) Sony monitor. But I don't think any of the Sploders had red interior..
Interesting project...
my friend just sold one of those...dammit
wow..look at that. did they have any like that with moonroof controls?
Yes, they did. You can find 'em all over the place on eBay for about $25
Um, that part might be a little too long for the birds/cats with factory moonroof
not much room between windshield and moonroof. :hick:
that's pretty cool.. i never knew it was a good fit like that *hmmm*... you've made a busy mind even busier.
Wish I had that problem.....Love my car but would love it more with the factory sun/moonroof....Although without it I CAN ripoff Carm's idea and do that on the Demon :grinno:
did anyone decide weather or not a mark 7 one will work. basically, id like to add the thermometer and cumpass to my car. ive got the factory roof and im pretty sure they used the same moonroof in the lincoln. come to think of it...did any of the mark 7s have the thermometer and compass in the headliner pannel?
I've looked into the Mark tripminder, but not the overhead console. I know the tripminder would present problems because it interfaces with the Mark gas gauge. Could probably still be made to work, but I haven't the time or resources to try it.
i remember a company out there sold a rear view mirror with maplights like the convertable but it also had a small display in the right hand corner that reads out temp and direction. i know i have the add somewhere. i still think an averhead console would be cool. are the sensors for the consoles integrated somehow or would there be alot of wireing?
You only need the outside temperature sensor (mounts to the rad support). Other than that it's a self-contained unit. A GM sensor will work as well (I'm using one out of a '00 Jimmy)
