Fri night the wife washed her cell phone with a load of clothes, needless to say it came out a bit soggy... On a lark I decided to see if it could be saved, so carefully opened the upper(screen)section and placed it in the oven at 170* to dry it out... After a couple treatments of 30-40 minutes, all signs of moisture were gone, but it was still dead... Problem??? The battery was ruined in the washing process(no it didn't go into the oven)... It now works fine on the battery from my phone, but being they are almost four years old, we'll be getting new ones...

HMMMM alot of people think electronics are Fu@7& if they get wet, but dont think to dry them out, and try it again, thats happened to me a couple times, over the past two years, but everything works fine, and its the same phone.......Good fix!!!!
I used to put my laptop and keyboards in the dish washer when they got dirty. My cell phone has seen a lot of stuff. Its one of the $20 varieties for a reason. I've dropped it 30 feet onto cement, and thrown it into the almost every time my alarm clock goes off. I'm not a morning person. But what kills them temporarily is dropping them in a puddle of water. I just take it apart and swap batteries from one of my last phones. I have 7 0r 8 nokia batteries in my bedroom, and about 4 at my truck at work.
All you have to do is swap the battery, and 9 times out of 10 its fine.
I did that to one of mine, changed the battery with a new one, and it worked fine for a day then started acting up again....
Yea if it hasnt gone too long tends to be the case that ya let it sit like a week and dry out real good...good as new. :cool:
I had an mp3 player once that went through the washer AND dryer. Amazingly still worked. We've come a long way since the days where electronics were easily broken with as little as a sneeze.
jumped in the pool with my Motorola Razor and it was dead let it dry for a week. Still dead had to go claim insurance on it and get a Krazr.
they say take em' apart and put them in a zip lock bag full of instant rice for a few days.
Flash drives wash up just fine, too. :)
Well we qualified for three free phones after we paid for the first(which has a rebate), so everybody got new new ones, that even includes my mom which we added to our plan... Now she can cancel her AT&T contract and save the $45 a month she was spending...
Yes and no... I once hooked up my Atari 2600 to the cigarette lighter in my father's old van. It started burning, half the circut board was charred, but it still worked when I brought it back inside and hooked it up to AC. Try that with a PS3...
Ive picked up a couple computers sitting on a curb soaked from rain, Let em dry for a week, They booted right up. :hick:
Key is to let whatever dry
completely before trying to power it up... This is especially true of anything that uses 120v...
I was messing with a curbside P-III computer in the garage last night that was rained on, works fine... That one is going to be a music server for one of my small transmitters(think running 24/7), so far so good, I'm still on the air this morning...
Had one go out on me just from carrying in in my pocket. POS. 5 yr replacement. Just have to send it back
Tried to tell my GF that about her iPod after she didnt tighten the lid on her soda she put in her purse. She HAD to have it for the next day and wouldnt just let it sit out like I told her. She got it to power up twice and work that night. Now its done. She bought another one off eBay. All she had to do was accept I MIGHT just be right one time. Ill just keep dreaming...
