anyone have pics of how their drivers side exhaust is ran with an AOD?
shift cable is in the way of running it in the crossmember hump like on a 5 speed.
With a floor shifter, you shouldn't have any issues. You can bolt up an H or X pipe, duals, and go.The cable should be held to the floor of the car and out of the way of everything.I went 5 speed with my Sport,so I can't get pics for you.Someone here may be able to post one.The shift cable should be above the crossmember, not below it.
i'v try to take pic but isnt clear
the guy at a ler shop do a good job when he install mine
little vibration on the shifter rod but you can move it a little bit to clear the way
i havnt done that cuz i dont worry about this little vibration
if the ler guy have a good tube bender he can do a good job
The "H" & "X" pipes seem to vary greatly from one mfgr to another... I have a Hooker "H" on mine and it fits so so... I had to cut the lower "ear" on the shifter cable bracket to gain enough clearance to prevent interference(I added a small hose clamp on the inside to help support the cable), also the passenger side o2 sensor rubbed the tranny bell and that had to be notched slightly(no excuse for that one)...
I have a unknown mfgr "X" pipe I tried to install, but due to the bend of the driver side, was no way in Hell it was going to fit past the shifter cable bracket... Somewhere I took a picture of a stock and my pipes for comparison, I'll see if I still have it...
Here ya go... The orignal pipe is from a LSC Lincoln and clears the shifter bracket with no issue at all... Notice the "X" has a "kick out" more so on the left than the others...

I've got a ProChamber on my car with Column Shift. It fits, but the LH O2 sensor is close to the trans.
I have had two Pace setter H pipes and I cursed the day I had bought them.....my garage sounded like a sailor convention (OK, it was) and my neighbors were dialing 911 before the gunfire......It was rough. My buddy bought the pacesetter X-Pipe.....fit like a dream and was the easiest install I have ever done. Maybe 30 minutes with no fitment problems. I think Tom is right, it just depends what kind of pipe and who makes it.
I have FRPP GT40P headers and a Summit off road H-pipe and it fit around the column shifter linkage and TV cable just fine. I guess every car is different :hick:
Yeah Ive got a summit O/R 2.5" h pipe and I was very happy with how it fit. Seemed designed well for the application...which in my case is the "worst"..column shifted AOD haha.
Yeah but what fits with column shift, may well not fit a floor shift setup...
Oh dammit....missed his sig...so yeah hes got a floor shift. Good catch.
