Title: Satin Black Bird
Post by: Dougy_Fresh on April 11, 2009, 09:13:02 PM
anyone have any pics of a satin black (or matte, not completely flat) 87-88 t-bird? or any fox bird for that matter.

started doing mine tonight. just spray bombing it cause i'm cheap and dont really care if it's perfect as anything is better than oxidized factory paint. got the first coat on the deck lid, was dark when i finished it though, going to get up in the morning and finish the deck lid.

I sold a bird to a guy that had different color fenders, doors, hood, etc and he spraybombed the whole thing black. He just wanted it one color too. I've only got two pics, but I thought it actually looked pretty good.

You know, now that you mention it, it might be gloss. I was just remembering the "spray bomb" part and was thinking it wouldn't shine much.

i'm gonna paint the grille too because it's chipping, but i'm going to take the emblem off before painting and leave it chrome

If you do all of that, take some before pics, some after pics, and post them up here. Of course, get ready for "comments"....

there will definately be pics put up. i need new fenders because someone ran it off in a ditch before i got it and bent the passenger side one and someone loosened my lug nuts and the drivers side wheel fell off and mangled the fender.

i found a complete Cougar parts car for $500, so i'm going to be buying it soon for the fenders, trans, and grey interior.

i started on it and got the decklid blacked but not cleared yet. have got lots of compliments about the decklid. have been sick ever since the night i did it so i havn't messed with it anymore.

i think i am going to pull the decklid off before i put the last coat of black on it so that i can get a smoother coat on it. seems like the paint i'm using sprays better in the vertical position.
