Hey everyone. I know this was posted, but i thought I would post some larger pictures with better shots.
I'm still trying ot find a good sale value of the car. KBB will not go back far enough for a quote, but i've checked Autotrader.com for 1986-1989 Cougars and I've seen alot of cars that have 3 times as many miles as mine and look worse but they're priced at $3,500 to almost $6,000. I've had in mind $4,000- maybe $5,000 but I figured I'd try and get a more knolegable estimate from you guys here at FTBCF.
heres a link to some larger and better pictures.

What do you think? is this reasonable/
Didn't you ask this once before? Why not just update it or something?
around here if you could find one, it would be around $2,500 max. Some people think there worth gold. You'll sell it for whats its worth. You may as well start high if you don't care and just want to get money out of it. There's a guy with something like 2,000 miles that has been trying to sell a turbo coupe for $17,000 for years.
NADA has a classic car section that goes back befor 1990....
Miles, history, motor, rust, repairs, records, issues.
All of that is important to judge what you can get out of it.
From the pics I would say 2K. These cars dont exactly appeal to many people.
I am asking $4500 for mine... I know it is way high but I really dont want to sell it, so that is the amount it will take to make me get rid of it. Mine is far from stock though, as you can see in my sig, and the link to the Cardomain for it \/.
This isn't enough detail to come up with a value but I can confidently say anything over $3500 is too much. That doesn't mean it's worth $3200 either. I just don't know the mileage, the condition of the underside, the condition or size of the engine, the condition of the paint, if it's all factory paint, if you have the original window sticker and all literature, if the AC still works. Just because you see those cars listed on Autotrader for those prices, doesn't mean they will actually sell at those prices and a lot of times, not even close. I will say your aftermarket radio takes the value down. I'm thinking around $1600 - $2200 though unless you have crazy low miles and the window sticker and all other literature.
*EDIT* I searched your threads and found information somewhere else that should be included in this thread or the two threads should be combined:
I would say $2K. This car has more value as a driver for Joe Public than as a Cougar for collectors - unless they have some sentimental memory of a car optioned exactly like yours. And that's assuming a no-rust underside and engine bay.
Oh, and your car is not "fully loaded."
I feel like the window sticker and litterature really wont make a lot of difference. They aren't collector cars, so its really not worth an arm and a leg for some book you can find at a swap meet for $15. And most people would simply use this as a first car, or a dd so the window sticker is irrelevant.
Of course, each one thing by itself doesn't make much of a difference. With such a vague description, who knows if all those details are there or if none of them are there. How many of us have bought cars with one or two "small" problems? Probably a lot. How many of us have bought cars with loads of problems. Probably a lot less. Each thing by itself isn't significant, and some things are more significant than others but all the little details and plusses make up the whole. Or all the little problems and minuses make up the whole. It all (the little details) matters in order to come up with a final value of the "whole."
Now if you had something like this, you could probably get top dollar for your car.

all that money and only 1 photo lol. Is this an error in the write-up...
" Inside, custom panels were built around the rear seat area. Interestingly, the seat belts were simply cut to make them lap belts only, which was apparently legal for those particular model years. "
We only have lap belts in the back
I assume they meant cutting the front belts. And there were more pics a couple weeks ago when I looked at it.
The text in that ad was "borrowed" from my site. :)
Yes, apparently it was legal in 1986 to cut the front 3-point belts into just lap belts. Solved an engineering problem for Car Craft, but doesn't give the driver and front passenger a rock-solid feeling. I speak from experience...hence the reason why I installed 3-point belts in the front of mine.
I love how frequenetly I see bits of your site "borrowed" for ebay ads or even other sites serving as information about cougars in general aka the history, of all years of em.
LOL my bad I read that wrong... where would the belt mount to LOL , thanks for clearing that up sorry for the hj
Dude stop selling your cars. You always want them back ;)
haha, good point. Actually my buddy just bought a new house with a huge garage, and he told me I can store the cougar out there, so as soon as I get the motor swapped into my '91 Bird I will take it out there and park it.
