Title: window rubber seal thing
Post by: mattg on April 08, 2009, 11:40:06 PM
i don't know what it is called.  it is on the outside of the door glass and makes contact with the glass keeping water from running into the door.    it has a corresponding piece on the inside.  both pieces together "pinch" the window.  mine are dry rotted and cracked on the exterior pieces.    at the dealer the counter guy chuckled and said "no way you can't get THOSE kind of parts" anymore.    where can i get this piece?  how do i take it off?    my gut tells me to take the interior panels off to check for rust on the sheet metal....but i'm not sure how to get that off either without breaking it.  thanks

its an 86 cougar---  but i found my answer in a sub section of this section (assembly/disassembly).  style 43 weather stripping from JC whitney is what i need and CougarCragar has an excellent post about installation.      http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=8969
