I just put a new engine in my car,but after doing this my aod acts like it has a stall converter in it. I shifted perfect before swap. i just had the cable adjusted where it worked awesome. So now wtf!!!
It has new filter fluid, and was clean when changed!!! Front pump or something being a bitch!! Help me please my people!!!!
P.S. 5spd swap i know!!! :burnout:
Dunno bud, I pretty much yanked the AOD and sold it quick. Not willing to play with that POS
Maybe make sure your pressure is okay?
What do you mean by:
In normal everyday driving if everything is working properly; you will not notice a higher stall converter....
Its slips up to certain rpm then it takes off like a sob. Oh and OD worked perfect before and now nothing??
Maybe something has worked it's way loose? Wire chafed somewhere?
Is the TV cable still connected properly? You know how they fall apart. If it's still connected, is it and its linkage moving properly?
TV cable stuff aside, it sounds to me like you need a tranny. It's probably slipping in first gear, and takes off when it shifts into second.
Do a 5-speed swap and be done with it :hick:
See this is exactly why I'm contemplating a C4 or a T-5 (probably the latter of the two)
I got c-4 but want the overdrive!!!!
OD is definitely a big plus in a daily driver. All you people encouraging T5 swap, I rise to remark some of us are incredibly lazy. :p
Im not lazy just broke!!!! LOL!!!!!hahaha
Not to mention you can build a c4 to smoke the t-5 on the track. Expensive but crazy shifting. And we can still be lazy and let the girlfriend drive home from the bar.
Real cars have three pedals.
Mine has 3.....gas, brake, and e-brake:hick:
No, real cars go fast, dont lose boost from having to let off to shift, dont hit rev limiters or over rev while shifting because you stayed in it while pushing the clutch in. =)
the whole deal that its slipping, in general. either it could be eased by a fluid change, but inevitably its going to croak. infact i'd advise you to decide what transmission your ganna use, and get it ready for the swap within the next 3-6 months. you definatly want to get rid of an AOD that slips.. even when you bring one back from death, it acts like what your describing right before it dies.
"get your affairs in order" so to speak.
build one right and they are an awesome tranny. Ask an expert they can help.
I build them frequently. They are pretty darn tough and when they do go down the hard parts failure is usually very low.
It is the TV cable....if you changed the fluid and filter, check there first. It is usually the last thing you did. Guarantee you will find something that is disconnected, or not connected correctly at all. I know you don't want to hear it but, get in there and take it apart again.
BTW fellas, real cars that have three pedals usually do not use a weak a$$ T5 or they are not real cars.
manuals are more fun for driving but autos like the AOD can be much more consistent for draggin. Both have a good place:D
EXACTLY! One time at the track in a 4-cyl turbo 5 speed showed me that this is truth.
I have a 4r70w to put in my siver 'bird. It isn't a cheap option necessarily, but a stock 01 Mustang 3.8 tranny will hold ~500 HP. They aren't too pricey to buy used, but the controller to run one in an older car like ours is 450.00. Other choice is a manual valve body.
Like Lightningbird says, go back to what you worked on last. That's often where the problem lies.
Leave it to me to
AGAIN, say something retarded.
I'll prob put c-4 in it since i have one. I'll prob throw a shift kit at it and a stall converter of some kind?? 2500-3000 prob.
Mine would be a stick if I didn't have to do much cutting and didn't have a C4 sitting on my tool chest :P
Any of these trannys are easy to install. I have 5spd pedals n flywheel ,pressure plate, clutch. Double hump crossmember(in car now) just need tranny n bellhousing n im golden!!!! Oh and i do this stuff all the time its my hobby and i love it. Prob have 5spd after c-4 so watch out??? i still have my 500hp 351c being built for my bird so i will post pics when i get it.
