We finally got nice spring weather on a weekend! Lately we've been saddled with rollarcoaster temps and weather which has been frustrating to say the least. It was in the 60's today so I decided to make to most of it and drive the cars and get out in the garage and start tearing down the 5.0 HO motor. I got the intake and front accessories off but that was about it. I also painted my 5.0 HO Mustang intake with hi-temp silver paint (looks sweet). Its nice to be able to work out in the garage without freezing to death!! I need to get all the HO parts off in preparation for the HO conversion in a few weeks.:burnout:
Here are some pics:

Not a huge amount of progress but I was just taking my time and just enjoying the weather. For all you who have had a rough winter, I hope you get a break from the weather and get to enjoy your cars soon too!
I was also out workin on my car today.....pullig off molding, shaving my trunk, getting some of my bodywork done..... but your cars look really good, and that intake looks sweet!!!
thanks...I tested it out and put the "5.0 HO" plaque back on that intake and it looks really good. I tried to pick a silver that would match the color of my wheels and pinstripes as best as possible!
Good to hear you are making some progress too. Other than getting my 'bird repainted I've been really lazy this winter. Its been cold, i've been sick several times, and I just have not had the motivation to get out in my tiny unheated garage and get anything done. But now that I can pull the cars out and open the garage doors it is getting me in the mood again for sure!
Man I love your T-Bird!! That thing is SWEET!!! Tha Cobra Rs look great, I think if I would ever change my wheels that would be my choice, but I think I would want chrome, or polished. It looks like you lowered it, I lowered mine using a set of lowering springs for a Mustang but they really slammed it! I Drove it to shows like that for a couple of years then I found a set for the T-Bird on ebay got them and sold the Mustang ones. Now it sits about an inch and a half lower than stock, and the ride is no where near as harsh as it was with the mustang ones. Although it sits a little low in the rear. But I can handle that, it gives it a 60's muscle car look, at least I think it does.
Hey thanks man. Yes the car has Mustang Steeda springs in it. The ride height is exactly where I want it to be but man does it ride rough. I guess I'll just have to deal with it unless I find some T-bird specific ones. What brand are the ones you have? I know eibach once upon a time might have made some and that maybe ford racing did...but they are hard to come by.
I got real lucky and got the hard to find T-Bird specific springs, they're the Ford Motorsport M5300-E front/rear sports handeling kit. They're just for the 1987-88 Thunderbird/Cougar. I just happened to come across them on ebay, I can't rember what I paid, exactly but I think it was around $80.00, so I believe I got a great deal, I paid $157.00 for the Mustang ones.
Your cars look sharp!! The first pic looks like it could be on a postcard or a calendar. Very cool.
thanks! I have this thing for gray ford's I guess. lol.
Those look really good! We had Spring-like weather too, 1/2"-3/4" ice storm. Been watching the branches fall on my rides out back all day.....just waiting for the trees themselves to fall over.  :bricks1: :shoothead
We just narrowly missed out on that storm. Its been off and on warm here not enough to really do much with the car yet but I'm sure it won't be long and I'll have quite a bit more shop time. In the last few months I have pulled all of my trim cleaned them up and got them painted. my gas tank is STILL on the floor waiting for a fuel pump since last summer. I just have so much stuff to do....
Beautiful T-bird, man. They look good together. And that's some nice Masonry work you've got there. ;)
Good ole' Indiana limestone at its finest. lol. I actually rent the place from my cousin but it is pretty nice!
Stone always makes such an impact. Too bad it didn't impact the pocket so much.
These photos are starting to get me frustrated though. With almost a week of melting temperatures, nearly all of my lawn was grass again. I woke up to about 16-18" of snow this morning. We're supposed to get another 5-10cm before morning too. Oh well. I got the day off work, since the plow still hasn't showed up on my road and the Vue can't chew through 12", let alone 16"
It's already hot here in AZ :p
Oooooh thats mean......
Serves to suffer :punchballs:
That's awfull!! I feel bad for you guys! It's been pretty decent here off and on for a couple of weeks now. I've been able to go out and wash my cars the last couple of weekends now. Even today was in the mid 50's.
Wow HAVI, we just narrowly missed that storm, I didn't realize it was that bad. Just hang in there it will be gone in the near future sounds like the sun may make an appearance by the weekend.
Yeah, so I had to shovel myself out this morning so I could get to work. The snow was up to my crotch, and the plow didn't come until after I went to bed last night..... at 11:00! It was nearly midnight before I heard the thing go by. And two days ago there wasn't a flake on the ground..... GYAAARRR! Bloody cruel joke.
My car is pretty much the same color as yours. Except I am stuck with the 3.8....but that will change. Money isn't that easy to come by when you're a college student with a 2 week old daughter/
Congrats and welcome to fatherhood! Its a strange, fun journey!
Hang in there man you will get there eventually...the daughter is probably a little more important than swapping motors right now anyway. lol.
Both cars look great (I like the T-bird better ;) ).
What brand of paint did you use for the intake? Duplicolor? The silver high temp Duplicolor I used once looked brighter. It could be the light though.
Yeah me too! That T-bird will be in my garage until the day I die. (but the Mustang is a hell of a lot faster, lol)
Yeah its silver Duplicolor hi-temp engine paint. It matches my Cobra R's perfectly so I am going to paint the valve covers the same color as well.
Thanks. She's a beautiful little girl.
i like the paint matched grille and took the time to make sure the chrome bird stayed that way.
on a side note. past 2 days its been warm enough to drop the top and not get tired of it (from being too cold) but today it rained so i wasnt going to get caught in a rain storm with the top down.. not worth the risk. i hope you guys dealing with ice and snow get out from under that blanket very soon. it always sounds like you guys are just about held hostage by it.
