Title: Fox lincoln struts

I have a brand new pair of Fox Lncoln struts (from an 88 Lsc )That I want to put on my 87 Cougar 5.0 will they fit ?

Depends on whether you've done the 11" brake conversion. The base car spindle (for 10" brakes) is thicker where the strut connects than the same point for the LSC/TC spindles, so I doubt the LSC strut will be able to fit on the base spindle (consequently, the base struts on TC spindles don't fit tightly, which is unsafe). That said, if you already have the LSC struts this would be the perfect time to move up to 11" rotors.

This is my understanding, at least, though I'd appreciate it if someone would correct me if I'm wrong.

Which is why there are specific spacers for that application...

I just bought new struts to use until I switch to the Bullit stuff I have.
