Title: best tire size for 15 x 3.5 weld skinny
Post by: Fordhabit on March 01, 2009, 10:32:17 PM
Does anyone know of a chart showing recommended tires for 15 x 3.5 Draglites?  I want the skinny look without seriously compromising handling and braking. Any help is appreciated.

People typically run a 165R15 tire. I have no idea why they use that strange designation that doesn't have a sidewall height, but I had this exact tire size on my 15x3.5's.

Edit: if you look at the chart here (http://"http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/45_conversionchart.html"), it shows that a 165R15 is equivalent to a P165/80R15

People will often use these spoogeho (http://"http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=spoogeho&model=Power+Star+758") tires. I found they handled fairly well considering how narrow they are.

You have compromised handling and braking by going to a 3.5" wheel. You must take it easy when compared to before or you will taco the wheel.

VW tires used to be the best tires for this application cause they were relatively cheap, and there were many types (all season, perfromance handling, water treads) to choose from.

I have 165/80/15 spoogeho power star 758's on my 15X3.5 rodlites. Like they said not really intended for handling but for straight line performance and less drag. Thus why called draglites in such.

also, draglites are not DOT approved either.

If I remember right, the 3.5" come with a sticker on them that states not for highway use.
