Title: magnum 500 wheels
Post by: HAVI on February 26, 2009, 09:59:26 PM
I've seen that cougarman has the '03 Mach 1 magnum 500 wheels on his cat.  I've been looking at the aftermarket magnum 500 for the Mustang, but it didn't label them as being '03's.  I also was looking at the Magnum 500 wheels for '05 and newer, but they have much more offset.  Then there's the older Mopar magnum 500's.  Anyone seen any of these on Foxes?

Then there's these that I've pondered.  I'm trying for a retro look while not looking too out of place.  It's snowing, blowing, and I'm bored.  any opinions?

They were '03 Mach 1 wheels, the "new" style magnum 500s, lol.
I've been looking at these for the Sport.:D

I'd also LOVE to see some old rallye wheels on one of these. Maybe I'll 'chop it this weekend if I feel like it LOL. I did this awhile back with pictures of a friends car that was at JUST the right angle so the wheels looked right. Shocking how well they fit. The second I did I went "thats IT I MUST have slots" hahaha

The Ford Magnums look really good, the slots.....well,if it was a 75 Torino maybe. You would want Ford Magnums, they were wider than the Mopar Magnums by an inch.Same bolt pattern though.

Nice photoshop work.  Any possibility of doing that with the vintiques?

I'm liking the SIIICK pic myself.
There's a debate on the HAMB about Keystone classics, but I won't go there, lol.

BTW, I thought I'd load up this pic for no reason:

IMHO, I have to say I have not seen a set of wheels that make a 20th look any better than the stock gold trimmed set. When those wheels are like new and clean, they are drop dead gorgeous!!

Yeah seriously in the end I kinda keep going back to 'em...I really love em. I am so in love with the whole color scheme on this car. They definitely had a good eye for it!

HAVI - I'll do one with the vintiques soon...school is kickin' my ass this week. Break next week so that should be ample time. :hick:

With RWLs they are. I hated keeping the silver ones I had clean though. :giggle:

I know exactly what a Cougar looks like with slots, because I had one :D My dearly departed 88 Cougar had 15X7 rear and 15X5.5 front slots on it. I could not find any that fit the 4X108 bolt pattern, so I had a machine shop drill new holes in a 4X114.3 bolt pattern set I found at a junk yard (I believe they came off a Datsun 260Z). The machine shop also made hubcentric rings for me so they'd fit properly. The rims + machine work only cost me $180 total. I then did my Thunder Chicken Wheel Restoration (http://"http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/foxthundercats/tech/wheelrestoration.htm") on 'em (this was the first set I'd ever done it to), painted the centers black and left the lip natural machined aluminum. They were absolute hotness.

I don't have any good pics - this was the days before everyone and his dog had a digital camera, and taking pictures actually required planning, commitment, and money, and you kept your pic whether it turned out well or not. Here's a pic of the Cat with the slots on it after the aforementioned restoration/refinishing of 'em:

Then I wrecked 'em

Yeah you've posted that whole bit before, glad ya did again. If I look closely at the front wheel I CAN make out a couple of the slots. That is pretty neat too not only slots but dark with a polished outer rim! Too bad about the wreck man thats a nice lookin cat there. :(

I kinda feel like the slots I 'chopped on are a little bright :hick: My buddy polished his up, they used to have the dull satin finish they usually come with. So that's why they look like that just the pic I had to work with haha (kinda like you were saying :hick: )

But that looks awesome. Im a real sucker for black center + polished outer. My other friend's mint 89 beretta has GTZ wheels and he polished the outer lip and it just looks SICK.
