Title: Rims
Post by: DVP on February 23, 2009, 06:05:36 PM
Needed tires BAD. Was looking at getting a pair at a time, would be around 165 or so for new tires before I had them mounted.

Put up a wanted ad on CL and guy emailed me with these and said $100. Good tread on spoogeho 711s (dont make them anymore). I really like them a lot. Think I am going to paint the spokes black and polish up the lip.

Ill get some better pics later. This was rushing between classes. the car is all distorted in this pic.

Caps will go on after I get the key for them and short lug nuts.

Oh and I got this for $50, need it for my new motor.

So for the price of what the intake usually goes for around here I got tires, rims and the intake. I think it was a good deal. Now Im broke again.

Yeah, those rims look real good. What brand and size? 16x8s? Sorta like Budderigs' wheels.

They are Fitipali. I believe they are 7 1/2 wide. Not sure, I was rushing putting them on but there is spec casting Ill look at tomorrow.

Budderigs' are similar but a different brand. They look a lot alike though.

The guy said he really couldnt break these loose on his vert.... It must have been the biggest slug ever. I got on it once turning off my street and it smoked them. Then I got on it getting into traffic from about a 30-35 roll and when it downshifted it spun them. They stick good around turns but its still cold out and they are summer tires so I think they will grab better then. That is if my car doesnt eat the fronts by then.

I was going to miss the deal on the intake if I wouldnt have found those rims so cheap

Little better pic. Need to clean it up and take some pics. I got shorter lugs now thanks to FLSTCI71 so I might put the caps on.

Looking good. You know I wish I still had my 86, I could have given you the front veilance, I saw yours is cracked. I'm liking the flat back look first "Murdered out" Cougar ever. Haha

Guy wants to trade me 3 draglites for my Ponies. 2 15x8 an 1 skinny (guessing 15x3.5) I am going to try and look at them in a little bit. I figure its worth it as I could get more out of the 2 rears than my 4 Ponies around here.

Looks like Draglites!!!! Other than that O/R H pipe, tune up, another grill (thanks to cougarman), deal with my rust issues, front brakes (thanks to Kitz), manual steering rack, and something that will be exposed in time....

I threw around the idea of flat black with gloss black pins, two tone with flat and gloss black, alot of stuff. The front clip all needs re"painted" flat again. Until I can paint it.Dont think I will ever black out everything but I plan to come close.

I think flat black looks somewhat mean, but,it also (in my own opinion) looks like it's still waiting for paint.A py "rat rod",that's different.I think these cars need some gloss.Still,I like your ideas, but shoot some gloss.

Dillon,

I picked up a set of the Filapaldi rims late last year.  The spokes and the centers are black w/a polished lip, just like you are thinking of doing.  I think they are a good looking rim (always a fan of the polished lip, black center)!  The 7 1/2" width makes them a bit more attractive for bigger tires.

It seems there are many sets of good looking 16" wheels for a reasonable price.  Everyone's moving to 17's & 18's.  If you have big brakes I think it looks great.  IMO they look a little goofy with the stock diameter brakes, even the 11" upgrade (just my "goofy" sense of athetitics).  The draw back I have found to keeping the 16" wheel is lack of higher line tires

The plan for mine is to have the rear's widened an inch for the Nitto D/R's and get a good summer tire for the front.  That set will be for the street.

The current rims are CSA (rear's have been widened to 8 3/4").  They will get a set of Mickey Thompson D/R's.  The fronts will be narrowed (provided I can locate a narrow 16" tire).  This will give me the sleeper look at the strip.  A plus in my situation is the ablity to swap them onto the Mustang to continue the sleeper theme.

I was hoping to get them done by CatJam, but as usual I have far more ideas than time (and sometimes money)!  I'll be busting my butt just to have the car together and running properly.  Alway's next year...

Im pretty set on gloss black.

I just picked up my draglites.

I really like the rims I have on there now. I know what you mean about the brakes but Im staying 10" for now... Then Ill be going 5 lug. Think I am going to paint the spokes black and polish up the lip.

Do you have any pics of those?

Need a 15x3.5 Draglight if anyone has or can get one cheap.

Here they are. They have been drilled for slicks (dont ask me why) but still not too bad for ponies I would only get about $90 out of.
